Mod de Sade

I'd heard pretty dire things about this gay S&M entry, though thankfully the film itself kept me entertained enough. It's really not much different fromt most vintage gay porn, though the addition of some satanic sadomasochism spices things up.

The paper-thin premise finds a chubby, bearded Satanist inviting a couple guys over (one at a time), drugging their drinks, and subjecting them first to forced multiple orgasms and then to some pretty severe sexual torture. Afterward, a few members of his coven over, and they "induct" the new members with an orgy.

Despite the tantalizing title, the name of the Divine Marquis is never mentioned during the course of the film - this group is strictly in bed with Satan. The sex is fair to middling, with no one ever showing much passion but everyone largely getting the job done. I've seen some complaints about faked cumshots, but given that both the initial guys are supposed to have come two or three times during their scene, I can't blame the film for that, and it at least adopts a novel sprinkling-from-above approach for the fake jizz, rather than the tired old mouthful-of-cum trope employed by most storefront pornographers.

The only place MOD really distinguishes itself are its tortures, which aren't limited to the usual boring whipping but bring out some nasty workshop tools (a vise to the balls is a particularly painful idea) and reach their cringe-inducing peak in an early scene featuring a boiling-oil enema. It's all patently fake, but at least novel enough to be interesting, which is more than I can say for a lot of the S&M lite from this era (I'm looking at you, Mother Goose Productions). The film is also admirably committed to its Satanic premise, with the hirsute priest making sure to blasphemously rub his cross through puddles of cum and, in a memorable nod to MULTIPLE MANIACS, stick it up a young man's butt and make him lick it clean. Again, its nothing groundbreaking, but at this point in my porn scholarship I take my minuscule pleasures where I can find them, and I found some here.
