The chase

I have never watched Korean movie that disappointed me and this one was great...loved the fact there was a few comedic parts but still a serious thriller movie

The Chase isn't the greatest entry in South Korean cinema's serial-killer genre but it offers sufficient thrills, suspense, and dark humor to keep it an engaging affair. The first half towers over the second owing to its smooth transition between grisly murders and offhand comedy. The chemistry between the grumpy landlord and the ex-detective with memory issues was fantastic. The supporting cast, including the killer, also does well.

Director Hong-seon Kim tries to add one too many layers to the connected backstory of the detective and the killer but they don't add up to much, other than being well-shot. The end twist also doesn't blow your mind. I believe the director wanted to maintain a lighter tone even when the film dealt with a serious subject. It's safe to say that the efforts have paid off to an extent, if not fully.

Oh God I love Korean Movies. I cannot express it enough. With English Language films, Japanese or Chinese movies picking a movie will have a 50% outcome of utter dismay, about %25 meh and the rest is a range of mild enjoyment to a great movie. I picked a random Korean movie and loved it. Really enjoyed it. Great Characters, Great Story, Great plot where you really are trying to guess the ending. That 70's brown polyester suit!! Great!

Saw this recently on a pirated dvd. The moment I read its a Korean film about a serial killer, I bought the dvd without watching the trailer. God bless the Koreans for making some of the best thrillers. This is a predictable but entertaining film. There r no bloody kills n fast paced action. It's a bit humorous regarding old geezers aka senior citizens. The guy who played the grumpy old landlord acted well. The Alzheimer detective was good too.

To me it felt like a average movie story evolving a serial killer. At first the movie seemed so interesting but ended badly. Story was predictable, nothing new and shocking. Maybe I expect too much from Korean serial killer movies as they are suspensefull and quite interesting but it wasn't much. But I must admit, lead actors did a amazing job.
