The Reluctant Landlord

Perfectly watchable translation of a stand-up style into a sitcom and although it wasn't a dazzlingly brilliant example of comedy, it was still a good bit of fun with a very likable protagonist.

It does annoy me when workplace sitcoms desperately try to make their business struggle against a technically better rival. I don't want them to be consistently failing or be that good but something in between.

The efforts to carry storylines over multiple episodes was misguided but didn't ruin it.

The child characters help.

I gave this 3/10. I only rated it so highly cos I fancy Yasmine Akram.

You can't write off a new series after a single episode, I wasn't blown away by it but I enjoyed it as an open minded fan of his stand up comedy. I will give it a fair chance and can see this has potential.

Contrary to others I have found this series pretty good and can see it blossoming in the second series....

The premise is good but horribly carried out. Romesh tries to bring his dry style of comedy to this but it really doesn't work. Most characters play daft (suggesting the script writing is lazy) , trying to garner a few cheap laughs but they just come off insulting to the audience's intelligence. There seems to be no chemistry between any of the characters, most of all Romesh and his family. I've watched four episodes and was really tempted during the last to just switch off. Definitely would not recommend
