Well to start off, don't go into this movie with any expectations. There's no logic and so many unnecessary cringe, cliche scenes. I can't believe this movie took 5 years to make. We're in 2024, and Tamil cinema has evolved so much from before, yet Shankar's movie has failed to live up to those expectations. Shankar's movies this past decade have not been realistic and the writing has been extremely poor. Bro just wasted a ton of money on a bunch of supposedly "cool" scenes when it was honestly just corny. With that money, he could've given it to people in India and that would've made more impact than his movie did. I get what his message was trying to promote and I understand then necessity of it. But doing it in this way is just making it worse. I'm honestly proud of Anirudh for making the music mid and didn't waste his good music on a terrible movie. The best part of this movie was Kadharalz imo, so the bar is set pretty low. I can't believe no one said anything when listening to the script. I had a lot of expectations and now I realized I should've had 0. This may have been one of the worst movies I've ever watched in my life. Shankar bro please do better and step up your game. Tamil cinema is not doing the best rn, so someone come please save us. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money.
7 years in production. Budget issues. Prosthetic makeup issues. Crew member deaths. Covid & deaths of Vivek & Nedumudu Venu (latter being a key figure since the 1996 film.)
What did we get? A confused 2 track vigilance film that doesnt present anything new to us & poor tamil dubbing of Senapathy's killings in Surat & Punjab. Senapathy's character mimics the Anniyan by replace Garuda Puran with different Varmams, but even his rambling on them goes overboard. Siddharth and his YT team are the Anti corruption force cleaning up the mess in their homes. After 3/4 of the film stops being padded with back and forth scenes, Shankar remembered he has a Part 3 to build up & leaves the film with a trailer which looked more interesting with Veerasekharan's story. But otherwise, the film hardly keeps you engaged and the making is outdated.
There's nothing redeeming in Indian 2 that convinces the viewer to watch part 3. Would have suggested to cut out the songs of the model and that anthem of senapathy as they added no value to the movie.

Indian 2: A Catastrophic Disappointment
Shankar has irrevocably tarnished the legacy of 'Indian' with this cinematic disaster. 'Indian 2' is not just a bad movie; it's a betrayal of the audience's trust. The film is a hollow shell of its predecessor, filled with incoherent plot and wasted potential.
I'm stunned by the director's disregard for the original film's impact. This is a painful reminder that even the greatest talents can falter. Shankar has shattered the trust built over years. I will be extremely cautious about future Shankar films.

Complete failure-a disorganised jumble!
A very worthless and repulsive film. Kamal exhibited no acting at all! He simply arrived, as if he were in BiggBoss, spoke, and left. It appears that he is already retired and is not in the mood to put himself under pressure; he simply shows up as a guest, speaks his lines, and leaves.
The choreography for the THATHA VARARU song was the WORST; it resembled the simple hand and leg movements of schoolchildren. It's unbelievable that Shankar paid so much for crew, paint, and sets only to perform those ridiculous dances. The entire film is set in the past, with many hilarious situations, particularly the ones when the bad guys jump like horses and escape.
It's unbelievable that three different people wrote the dialogue for this film, which has no dialogue at all.
If you admire Shankar's work, you have to come to terms with the fact that he DID NOT make this movie. I'm hoping that Indian 3 will restore Shankar's standing.
It's obvious that we miss RAHMAN, SUJATHA (for dialogues), and the lovely makeup artist. This sinking ship is too big even for the greatly acclaimed, beloved, and "past decades talented" Kamal Haasan to salvage. His portrayal lacks the complexity and depth that made him a legend, and instead seems to be a replay of his earlier parts. The supporting cast doesn't do much better and utterly fails to make an impression. I find it hard to believe that this film required a whooping 700 crores to make!

I watched "Indian 2" with low expectations, especially after the lackluster trailer and songs. I was worried they'd ruin the original, and they came close.
For starters, there's no direct continuation from the first part, they just borrowed the theme and our beloved main character Senapati for this new story.
The plot has its ups and downs- few good, and a few unconvincing and silly moments.
The screenplay follows suit, featuring few engaging sequences, a lot of dull scenes, and cringe-worthy ones.
Kamal Hassan, as always, delivers a stellar performance. His dedication, hard work, and love for cinema shine through.
I wasn't a fan of his makeup in the trailer which reflected in the film as well.
Siddharth plays his part perfectly, and it's heartwarming to see Vivek and Venu back on screen, Priya and others did fine in their roles.
The cinematography is top-notch, with fantastic sets and rich locations.
While the songs are average, the background score is fine.
The fight scenes are a bit over the top, but that's to be expected.
Shankar's direction remains impressive in few scenes, and this is his weakest work till date.
The film is lengthy.
I've got a feeling the third part will have more potential.

- TriviaA crane accident on the set of the film resulted in the deaths of 3 crew members and the injury of 10 others. R.Rathnavelu was the interim cinematographer during that time when the main cinematographer Ravi Varman was unavailable. In fact, director Shankar, Kamal Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal narrowly escaped the accident themselves. Following the accident, Shankar donated 1 Crore Rupees to the families of the affected.
- GoofsSenapati was old in 1996 while in Indian 2 also he is of same age and also fights and behaves like a young man which is impossible.
