Completely shaken.
I want to say it's beautiful, and from an artistic point of view, it truly is. But goodness, what a horrific bloodbath it remains. 😔 That's what war is. Back then, later on, and of course, still today.
Have we really become so forgetful?
Many thanks to the Sound of the Somme team for powerfully reviving this dark chapter of our recent history. The sound of the bagpipes cuts straight to the bone, and the result is twelve profoundly moving minutes.
Lest we forget!

Sound of the Somme is a powerful, moving tribute to heroism and hope. Based on a true story the film beautifully captures the resilience of the human spirit amidst the horrors of war. Stunning visuals, emotional depth, and hauntingly beautiful music make this a must-watch. A heartfelt and unforgettable film.
A short film about a bagpiper during a horrifying battle. I like the fresh take on the WOI war genre. Great acting, visuals and production value.
It would have been nice if the duration of the short film had lasted a little bit longer. Some supporting characters could use some extra attention. But a short is a short ofcourse, and the director probably had to make choices to make such a ambitious project a reality.

A very intense and emotional film! Not a film in which the hero survives everything, but a film in which the hero leaves you with questions at the end.
When you watch the film, you follow the soldiers during their desperation in the attack, the change from structure to chaos. The emotions they carry and have to endure. As a climax, we visited the place in the Somme where the battle took place and where Richardson is buried. It was the last step we had to take to commemorate them.
