A B production that starts well and then treads water until a rushed ending.

The plot of The Verdict resolves around gangsters trying to 'fix' a jury.

Too much is rushed during the last ten minutes of this 59 minute British B movie, however. And little happens during the first 30 minutes, making watching this pretty much a waste of time.

The acting is maybe OK, but nothing in this is shot well or planned out well.

I watched it to see Zena Marshall, after seeing her give a fine performance in The Embezzler (1954). Watch that movie instead and avoid The Verdict.

Both are B productions, but The Verdict really doesn't work and is not particularly engaging. To boot, the ending seems like a twist, but it is one that would collapse the day after once several witnesses/participants in the various doings herein would be questioned.

    5.25/10.

    Double double cross

Cecil Linder is an American gangster who is deported to London because he has a British passport.Trouble is that he has used the fingerprints of a man he murdered to get the passport. So Scotland Yard pinch him for this murder which took place 25 years ago. However he plans to avoid justice by substituting Nigel Davenport for one of the jurorsHowever Davenport double crosses him,so is found guilty. However this has unexpected consequences for Davenport.Quite neat.
