New Jersey hardcore act Gel have broken up due to what the band describes as “heinous acts” committed by guitarist Anthony Webster.
The other band members released a lengthy collective statement announcing the group’s disbandment and detailing Webster’s actions. The guitarist — who had already been ousted from the band prior to the statement — has been accused of stealing money to pay for OnlyFans content and posting nude images of other band members to Reddit, among other grievances that have done “irreparable damage.”
Gel’s full statement on Instagram read:
“Hey everyone, friends and fans — Gel is no longer a band, and therefore will not be playing any of our currently scheduled upcoming shows. The reason is pretty simple at its core; the former guitar player, Anthony Webster, has committed such heinous acts in trying to forward himself in his musical career that he’s done irreparable damage to the band in the process,...

Naruto and One Piece have several commonalities. Both share the title of the Big 3 of Shonen Jump along with Bleach. But other than that, the series has an impressive cast of voice actors who made their mark in the industry. One of them is Showtaro Morikubo whose recent update has fans in disbelief.

Morikubo is a seasoned voice actor who has worked in Eiichiro Oda as well as Masashi Kishimoto’s series. His retirement was hinted through the recent updates but one thing is certain. This doesn’t diminish his pivotal role as a Va in the anime and video game industry, especially with his impressive roster.

The Devil May Cry franchise is feeding its fans well. Not only does it have multiple games, light novels, manga, and an anime series, but now it has a new animated series by Netflix and Adi Shankar. It’s similar to Netflix’s Castlevania series, which Shankar served as a producer for.

Fans will witness the return of many favorite characters in Netflix’s animated adaptation. The most recent trailer for Devil May Cry ended with Vergil’s entrance, Dante’s older twin brother and one of the main antagonists of the series.
The fresh new voice cast, however, also meant Dan Southworth wouldn’t be his voice actor. Robbie Daymond, who you might recognize as Jujutsu Kaisen’s Megumi Fushiguro, Persona 5’s Akechi Goro, or Hubert von Vestra in the Fire Emblem series, will be voicing the fan-favorite character. However, many feel a bit mixed about the new voice.

In many ways, Hour of the Wolf (1968) is just like many other films directed by Ingmar Bergman, one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. It stars two of his most frequent collaborators, Max von Sydow and Liv Ullmann (the latter of whom was Bergman's partner at the time); it was filmed on the Swedish island of Fårö, where Bergman lived for much of his life; and its script was heavily inspired by Bergman's own life and relationships.
Even so, Hour of the Wolf is a unique entry in Bergman's acclaimed oeuvre for one simple reason: it's a horror film. While many of Bergman's films dealt with dark themes and featured Gothic imagery and foreboding atmospheres, Hour of the Wolf remains Bergman's only attempt to truly frighten his audience on a visceral level, taking heavy inspiration from his own nightmares. But Bergman didn't dabble in the horror genre just for shock value.

Here’s What Dakota Johnson Once Revealed About The BTS Drama On Fifty Shades’ Set ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
It turns out that the drama on the Fifty Shades set was steamier than anything on-screen. Seven years after the franchise’s debut, Dakota Johnson spilled the tea in Vanity Fair, and it’s just as juicy as you’d expect. Behind the seductive facade, filming the Fifty Shades series was an uphill battle filled with creative clashes, awkward rewrites, and plenty of “What are we even doing?” moments.
Dakota initially signed on as Anastasia Steele because, as she put it, “I’m a s**ual person.” She wanted to explore the spicy themes that made E.L. James’s books a sensation. But reality hit hard. “I signed up to do a very different version of the film we ended up making,” she admitted. The reason? Creative control, lots of it. E.

Prehistoric Powerhouse
BBC Factual‘s landmark dinosaur series “Walking With Dinosaurs” roars back to life in a new reimagining, 25 years after its original stomp across television screens. The upcoming six-part series, slated for BBC One and iPlayer, promises to revolutionize natural history storytelling through cutting-edge visual effects and forensic science.
Series producer BBC Studios, alongside co-producers PBS, Zdf, and France Télévisions, will transport viewers into the prehistoric world by following individual dinosaurs whose remains are actively being discovered by leading paleontologists. Each episode, running 50 minutes, weaves paleontological discoveries with cinematic storytelling, bringing to life creatures like the feathered Albertosaurus, a deadly T. rex relative, and the distinctive Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai, sporting its characteristic “unicorn” horn.
The series is executive produced by Andrew Cohen and Helen Thomas, with Kirsty Wilson serving as showrunner. Jack Bootle, head of commissioning for specialist factual, greenlit the project for the BBC, with Bill Gardner consulting for PBS.

Atlus is hosting an election with the goal of finding out which Metaphor: ReFantazio character is the most popular among fans. The interim results are in, and while some results results are as expected, others are a bit of a surprise. The results are baffling to many fans, who believe that several characters deserve to be higher in the running than the votes suggest.
Although the voting is only half over, Atlus has already shared the mid-election results in both an infographic and a brief video on the official Atlustube YouTube channel showing how many votes each character has received. The top three most popular characters, according to the poll, are:
3. Protagonist
2. Louis
1. Strohl
It's possible that the voting is skewed by the demographic of the game's players, which some fans believe to be skewed toward female players (though this is purely anecdotal and not based on any statistics). The results could still change,...

Atlus’ announcement is what I’m most excited for from Xbox Developer Direct, and I have a few ideas of what it might be. I’ve been a fan of Atlus’ games since I played the original Catherine and fell in love with its strange mix of psycho-sexual symbolism and puzzle-solving platforming mechanics. Recent successes like Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona 3 Reload have made me very excited about their future output.
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona 3 Reload
After some big years for the franchise, I’d be surprised not to see something Persona-related from Atlus. Of course, I also wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to continue building on the hype around Game of the Year nominee Metaphor: ReFantazio. That said, the announcement could be a total curveball, which I would also welcome.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is officially getting a manga, and fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long to read it. In Tokyo Clanpool, players are thrown into a silly world where Prime Minister Natsume Kannuki controls Japan’s government, and a group of cute anime girls run it. This setting serves as the backdrop for a deeper narrative trip in addition to having a comedic effect. The appearance of a strange tower brings chaos, letting loose a huge army of monsters that threaten to destroy society itself.
As Natsume and her Cabinet set out on a quest to combat these threats and learn more about their world’s secrets, including the mysterious life force known as Ether, the narrative deftly weaves humor and stakes together. This premise sets the stage for a blend of silly adventure and real danger, making player participation feel both entertaining and important.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Will Crumble If It Doesn’t Nail One Element of the Sony Masterpiece
Ghost of Tsushima isn’t a bog-standard action-adventure game; it is a visual masterpiece in more ways than one. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the samurai RPG has sold millions of copies.
But that is not all considering the franchise’s branching out into different visual mediums. From film adaptations to cameos, it is soaring heights. To top it all off, its anime adaptation is set to make waves. But there’s a catch to it.

Persona 5 was a major success for the series, but it wasn’t flawless, and Persona 6 should do its best to avoid one major issue from the previous game. Persona 5’s minor flaws - like Atlus’ classic overly-long introduction - can be easily overlooked thanks to the quality of the rest of the game. However, some of Persona 5’s narrative decisions are a bit harder to forgive and leave an unfortunate stain on an otherwise pristine game.

While there have been some hallmark Aaa titles in 2024, it really has been a far better year for indie games with the likes of the award-winning Balatro and the critically acclaimed 1000xRESIST releasing this year. It can be hard to remember just how good the selection of indies is in 2024, especially because of just how many there are.
Breaking down which ones are worth playing can be tough, especially as they fall into so many different categories. Whether it's the best cozy indie games of 2024 or the complex philosophical, narrative-focused ones, narrowing down the selection to add to a backlog will be a tricky endeavor. Luckily, while they are all absolutely worth playing, it's not hard to say which are the very best of the bunch and are worth checking out first.

Like many others who grew up in the early 2000s, I've always held a certain nostalgic affection for Pokémon. In fact, as a kid, I really loved the series—up until 2006's Gen IV (Pokemon Diamond & Pearl), I collected every game, and I would always be on the lookout at thrift stores for VHS tapes of the anime I could watch at home. To this day, I can't explain it, but I always feel compelled to say that two of my all-time favorite games are Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon Channel. I vividly remember digging through my tiny and circular GameCube disc binder all the time, excitedly dredging up the two to play.
Truth be told, though, at a certain point, I started not to like Pokémon for anything more than nostalgia—and I failed to see how people who grew up with the franchise like I did could like it for any other reason.

2024 has been a phenomenal year for the PlayStation 5 as it has featured some of the console's best games yet. From sprawling JRPGs to action-packed soulslike adventures, there have been a plethora of truly stand-out releases on the PS5. Of course, it isn't without its faults, and there have been a handful of duds. However, for every Concord, the PS5 has had ten really terrific games that more than make up for it.
This is great news for PS5 fans who have perhaps been feeling like Sony has taken a little too long releasing compelling exclusives. While 2024 has sadly come to an end, there's a good chance a lot of people haven't had the time to check out PlayStation 5's best games of the year. So, including some of the best RPGs of 2024 and the best indies, here are the greatest PS5 games of 2024.

The gaming industry is rapidly shifting towards a streaming-based future, and Sega could be the next major player to enter the fray. With successful models like Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass and Sony’s PlayStation Plus leading the charge, Sega President Shuji Utsumi recently confirmed the company is evaluating its own subscription service.
In an interview with the BBC, Utsumi described subscription models as “very interesting” and hinted at ongoing discussions within the company. While tight-lipped about specifics, Utsumi’s comments suggest Sega is seriously considering a move that could redefine its position in the gaming landscape.

There's a special treat in store for Persona fans next month. The English-dubbed version of Persona 5 The Animation will become available to stream on the platform starting Jan. 23.
Hulu recently unveiled the anime's upcoming release date alongside dozens of other animated and live-action programs that will be added to the platform's catalog next year. Released in 2018, Persona 5 The Animation is a retelling of the main storyline from Atlus' bestselling Persona 5 video game. The series is produced by CloverWorks, which is known for Spy x Family and Fate/Grand Order. The Persona 5 anime was initially made available to Western audiences in September 2020 with a Funimation-produced English dub starring Xander Mobus (Ren Amamiya) and Cassandra Lee Morris (Morgana). Science Saru is peaking with its masterpiece anime Dandadan. The series is at an all-time high with its growing popularity. But what is even more interesting is the richness of the series.
Its ability to unpack depth and complex emotions makes it so much better. With each episode, the studio overdid itself in more ways than one. The recent episode, however, is sure to shock and rile the fandom up.

This is especially true for Gojo fans who are yet to make peace with the character’s demise. With Gojo’s Va joining Tatsu’s series, it was nothing short of a visual treat.
Moreover, it stands in contrast with the fandom’s disagreement and toxicity when it comes to Gojo’s contentious fate. It all circles back to the community’s extreme antics and online abuse.

What do the Persona series and New Jersey have in common? Both have heard Lotus Juice’s rap prowess. Lotus Juice, a pioneer of Japanese rap and hip-hop, can be heard in many games and anime, most notably on Persona 3 , JoJo's Bizzare Adventure , Soul Eater , and more. This year, he has been performing across the US and globally at anime conventions, working on new game projects, and writing his fifth solo album behind-the-scenes. Discovering that Lotus Juice was also raised in New Jersey, fans from across the state gathered to see his homecoming concert at Anime NJ in Hackensack. The room was filled with eager fans waiting to see this special performance. The 300-person crowd was lively, welcoming, and ready to dance to songs like “ Mass Destruction .” I attended the concert and had a chance to speak with Lotus Juice one-on-one about his unexpected pivot to the world of Japanese rap,...

Xbox Game Pass has several exceptional games on it that often go unnoticed, including the striking Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Dungeons of Hinterberg, and Little Kitty, Big City. While all of these games and others have fan bases, many are overlooked by the wider Game Pass community or even those contemplating whether subscribing to the service is worth it in the first place.
However, there is one game in particular on Game Pass that deserves players' attention. It ranks as one of the best RPGs on Game Pass and offers a uniquely compelling blend of some of the best titles out there. For players who are looking for their next sprawling RPG or an indie that's a little unique, this is absolutely the game they should be playing.

Atlus has long been known for its beloved Persona series, so when it announced the release of Metaphor: ReFantazio, the initial assumption was that it would bear similarities to its previous games. However, the developers surprised everyone and opted for a radically different setting: a medieval high fantasy world with unique combat mechanics.

After the game’s release on October 10, which received a positive response from the community, many began to wonder what drove the developers to pivot in such a different direction. As it turns out, the decision was deeply influenced by advice from Ikuto Yamashita, a key figure in Japanese anime history and the designer behind Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Persona managed to give me a shock before I even started watching it. Its IMDb entry lists it as running two hours and twenty-one minutes, which seemed a bit excessive for the film’s plot. Thankfully, when I put it on, the actual running time was a more reasonable hour and forty-two minutes, and even that was a bit longer than needed.
A woman wakes up with no memory of who or where she is. Where is a filthy house, one that looks like it’s been used as a squat for the homeless. Actually, it’s serving a much more sinister purpose, its doors locked and windows boarded up, it’s serving as a prison for her.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has been nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, and although I think it deserves this recognition, I also can’t seem to finish it. This starkly contrasts its competitor and fellow Jrpg, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which I’ve sunk several days’ worth of playtime into. I’m also a big fan of Atlus’ RPGs, having played Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal multiple times. So why is Metaphor: ReFantazio giving me so much trouble?
It’s certainly not because of any technical failings. In many ways, Metaphor is a much more engaging experience than some of Atlus’s other games. It also has a topical story that feels almost perfectly timed. As a fan of political stories, it also happens to align with my personal interests. And yet, the game just can’t seem to hook me.

Mike Ho’s “Persona” (2024) is a kidnapping drama sans any color and texture. A woman wakes up in an unknown house. She has no recollection of the circumstances that transpired and has brought her there. She fumbles around for clues and markers that can give her a certainty or inkling of the stuff that has gone down here. Groping in the dark, she stumbles across another bruised woman, Samantha. It is only after some effort the woman recalls her name being Tricia.
What’s definite, however, is the reality of the house where the two are caged. The exits are all sealed up. But the ominousness of the captor lingers in the air. At any point, he may be back. There’s no real threat though the endangering man makes his appearance brashly. The film is essentially circling two women who are bracing themselves for the inevitable return of the kidnapper.

Streaming giants are a force to be reckoned with in the race for the 52nd International Emmys, organized by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, as they approach the awards on Nov. 25 in New York.
Nominees for drama series include Season 2 of Prime Video’s Argentine thriller “Yosi, the Regretful Spy,” based on the real story of an Argentine police agent who infiltrates a Jewish community. Also nominated is Disney+ Hotstar’s Indian remake of BBC/AMC’s John le Carré adaptation “The Night Manager,” about a corrupt and dangerous arms dealer.
They compete alongside Apple TV+’s “Drops of God,” adapted from a manga series, about the estranged daughter of a French wine expert who must compete with her father’s Japanese protégé in a series of tests; and Season 2 of Prime Video’s “The Newsreader,” about the cut-throat world of Australian news media in the 1980s.

Perhaps one of the biggest elements of Metaphor: ReFantazio, aside from battling, is developing your relationship with your followers. Followers are the backbone of your entire campaign for the throne and as you bond with them throughout your playthrough, many offer valuable rewards in exchange for your friendship.
[Warning: Major spoilers for Metaphor: ReFantazio]
Although you can't control which followers you unlock first, as each one has a designated date to begin bonding with them, you can control who you choose to prioritize after that when planning your free time. Since the time spent outside of dungeons is very valuable, it may be worth knowing which party members offer the most help, outside just their Metaphor: ReFantazio Archetype.

Metaphor: ReFantazio's Necromancer Takedown and its associated dungeon, the Regalith Grand Cathedral, is the first introduction to time management for players. Players face a deadline to defeat the necromancer Zorba while gaining access to the activities available within Grand Trad. Properly timing the dungeon's completion, activities, requests, and bounties can be overwhelming initially. Still, it is a great way to make the dungeon run smoothly and create a solid foundation as the game opens up.
Like Persona's Palaces, players receive a calendar deadline to enter the dungeon and defeat Zorba in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Activities like shopping, listening in on conversations, and meeting with More do not progress time forward. However, once done, other activities will take the time slot you are currently in.

We’re living in a great era for old school survival horror games. While we don’t see as many big budget Aaa projects in the genre as we used to, the indie scene has picked up the slack. What’s more refreshing about it is that now that we’ve had a lot of titles playing around in this genre space, we’re seeing more ways that games differentiate themselves, using the language of survival horror to tell tales that are more personal and unique. Sorry We’re Closed, the debut title from à la mode games, uses a lot of the genre trappings, but feels completely different from anything else I’ve seen recently.
Right from the jump, Sorry We’re Closed doesn’t begin like a standard horror game. Instead of waking up in an abandoned hospital or finding yourself in the middle of a zombie outbreak,...

Record of Ragnarok is a strange beast of a seinen franchise, with an incredibly popular Netflix Original Net Animation (or Ona) of Coamix's 2017 manga by Shinya Umemura. However, as I discovered the series in its manga form before diving into the Netflix series, I was quickly puzzled by what I saw, with its glorious characters by Azychika exhibited as a colored-in slideshow of manga panels and nothing more. Despite such low points, I can't help but enjoy Record of Ragnarok's frustratingly bad anime because of how much I adore its manga and look forward to each new chapter.

Gravitas Ventures has unveiled the official trailer for Persona, an indie horror thriller from director Mike Ho, mostly known for making many music videos over the last decade. Set for a VOD release in December if anyone wants to watch. Not sure why they needed to use the same Persona title as the iconic 1966 Ingmar Bergman film. A woman wakes up locked in a house, injured with no memory. She's terrified yet relieved to find a woman bound in another room. These two strangers must work together to figure out what's really going on before the door is unlocked. Who is coming back for her? Why are they locked up in this house?
