New Jersey hardcore act Gel have broken up due to what the band describes as “heinous acts” committed by guitarist Anthony Webster.

The other band members released a lengthy collective statement announcing the group’s disbandment and detailing Webster’s actions. The guitarist — who had already been ousted from the band prior to the statement — has been accused of stealing money to pay for OnlyFans content and posting nude images of other band members to Reddit, among other grievances that have done “irreparable damage.”

Gel’s full statement on Instagram read:

“Hey everyone, friends and fans — Gel is no longer a band, and therefore will not be playing any of our currently scheduled upcoming shows. The reason is pretty simple at its core; the former guitar player, Anthony Webster, has committed such heinous acts in trying to forward himself in his musical career that he’s done irreparable damage to the band in the process,...

The Devil May Cry franchise is feeding its fans well. Not only does it have multiple games, light novels, manga, and an anime series, but now it has a new animated series by Netflix and Adi Shankar. It’s similar to Netflix’s Castlevania series, which Shankar served as a producer for.

Fans will witness the return of many favorite characters in Netflix’s animated adaptation. The most recent trailer for Devil May Cry ended with Vergil’s entrance, Dante’s older twin brother and one of the main antagonists of the series.

The fresh new voice cast, however, also meant Dan Southworth wouldn’t be his voice actor. Robbie Daymond, who you might recognize as Jujutsu Kaisen’s Megumi Fushiguro, Persona 5’s Akechi Goro, or Hubert von Vestra in the Fire Emblem series, will be voicing the fan-favorite character. However, many feel a bit mixed about the new voice.

In many ways, Hour of the Wolf (1968) is just like many other films directed by Ingmar Bergman,one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. It stars two of his most frequent collaborators, Max von Sydow and Liv Ullmann (the latter of whom was Bergman's partner at the time); it was filmed on the Swedish island of Fårö, where Bergman lived for much of his life; and its script was heavily inspired by Bergman's own life and relationships.

Even so, Hour of the Wolf is a unique entry in Bergman's acclaimed oeuvre for one simple reason: it's a horror film. While many of Bergman's films dealt with dark themes and featured Gothic imagery and foreboding atmospheres, Hour of the Wolf remains Bergman's only attempt to truly frighten his audience on a visceral level, taking heavy inspiration from his own nightmares. But Bergman didn't dabble in the horror genre just for shock value.

Persona 3 Reload fans are receiving even more good news this February as the critically acclaimed role-playing game celebrates its first anniversary. A new release based on the game’s additional story content, Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis -The Answer-, is now available for pre-order.

Atlus, the Japanese video game publisher behind the Persona series and Metaphor: ReFantazio, is teaming up with iam8bit for a new vinyl release based on the Persona 3 remake released on Feb. 2, 2024. The vinyl will feature music made for the game’s downloadable content, released in September 2024. The Dlc is a remake of the game’s original epilogue content, "The Answer," that continues the story from the playable point-of-view of Aigis, the beautiful robot girl built for destruction but who awakens her humanity thanks to the Protagonist.

BBC Factual‘s landmark dinosaur series “Walking With Dinosaurs” roars back to life in a new reimagining, 25 years after its original stomp across television screens. The upcoming six-part series, slated for BBC One and iPlayer, promises to revolutionize natural history storytelling through cutting-edge visual effects and forensic science.

Series producer BBC Studios, alongside co-producers PBS, Zdf, and France Télévisions, will transport viewers into the prehistoric world by following individual dinosaurs whose remains are actively being discovered by leading paleontologists. Each episode, running 50 minutes, weaves paleontological discoveries with cinematic storytelling, bringing to life creatures like the feathered Albertosaurus, a deadly T. rex relative, and the distinctive Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai, sporting its characteristic “unicorn” horn.

Like many others who grew up in the early 2000s, I've always held a certain nostalgic affection for Pokémon. In fact, as a kid, I really loved the series—up until 2006's Gen IV (Pokemon Diamond & Pearl), I collected every game, and I would always be on the lookout at thrift stores for VHS tapes of the anime I could watch at home. To this day, I can't explain it, but I always feel compelled to say that two of my all-time favorite games are Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon Channel. I vividly remember digging through my tiny and circular GameCube disc binder all the time, excitedly dredging up the two to play.

Truth be told, though, at a certain point, I started not to like Pokémon for anything more than nostalgia—and I failed to see how people who grew up with the franchise like I did could like it for any other reason.

2024 has been a phenomenal year for the PlayStation 5 as it has featured some of the console's best games yet. From sprawling JRPGs to action-packed soulslike adventures, there have been a plethora of truly stand-out releases on the PS5. There's a special treat in store for Persona fans next month. The English-dubbed version of Persona 5 The Animation will become available to stream on the platform starting Jan. 23.

Hulu recently unveiled the anime's upcoming release date alongside dozens of other animated and live-action programs that will be added to the platform's catalog next year. Released in 2018, Persona 5 The Animation is a retelling of the main storyline from Atlus' bestselling Persona 5 video game. The series is produced by CloverWorks, which is known for Spy x Family and Fate/Grand Order. The Persona 5 anime was initially made available to Western audiences in September 2020 with a Funimation-produced English dub starring Xander Mobus (Ren Amamiya) and Cassandra Lee Morris (Morgana). The majority of the show's English cast members reprise their character roles from the original video game.

Persona managed to give me a shock before I even started watching it. Its IMDb entry lists it as running two hours and twenty-one minutes, which seemed a bit excessive for the film’s plot. Thankfully, when I put it on, the actual running time was a more reasonable hour and forty-two minutes, and even that was a bit longer than needed.

A woman wakes up with no memory of who or where she is. Where is a filthy house, one that looks like it’s been used as a squat for the homeless. Actually, it’s serving a much more sinister purpose, its doors locked and windows boarded up, it’s serving as a prison for her.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has been nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, and although I think it deserves this recognition, I also can’t seem to finish it. This starkly contrasts its competitor and fellow Jrpg, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which I’ve sunk several days’ worth of playtime into. I’m also a big fan of Atlus’ RPGs, having played Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal multiple times. So why is Metaphor: ReFantazio giving me so much trouble?

It’s certainly not because of any technical failings. In many ways, Metaphor is a much more engaging experience than some of Atlus’s other games. It also has a topical story that feels almost perfectly timed. As a fan of political stories, it also happens to align with my personal interests. And yet, the game just can’t seem to hook me.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Is A Major Step Forward For...

Mike Ho’s “Persona” (2024) is a kidnapping drama sans any color and texture. A woman wakes up in an unknown house. She has no recollection of the circumstances that transpired and has brought her there. She fumbles around for clues and markers that can give her a certainty or inkling of the stuff that has gone down here. Groping in the dark, she stumbles across another bruised woman, Samantha. It is only after some effort the woman recalls her name being Tricia.

What’s definite, however, is the reality of the house where the two are caged. The exits are all sealed up. But the ominousness of the captor lingers in the air. At any point, he may be back. There’s no real threat though the endangering man makes his appearance brashly. The film is essentially circling two women who are bracing themselves for the inevitable return of the kidnapper.

The 2024 International Emmy Awards took place Monday night in New York, honoring the finest shows made outside of the United States, with nominees coming from 21 countries, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The night’s big winners were Apple TV+’s French-Japanese anime adaptation “Drops of God,” which won best drama series; Netflix’s Argentinian satire “División Palermo” winning best comedy series; Netflix’s German thriller “Liebes Kind” winning best limited series; Timothy Spall, who won best actor for the BBC’s crime drama “The Sixth Commandment;” and Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying, who won best actress for Netflix’s Thai chef drama “Hunger.”

Two honorary awards were given out during the ceremony, which was hosted by comedian Vir Das. Sidonie Dumas, CEO of French film and TV producer Gaumont, received the International Emmy Directorate Award, which “Lupin” star Omar Sy presented to her. And legendary TV producer David E. The best in global television was honored in New York on Monday night at the 2024 International Emmy Awards, with winners picked across nominees from 21 countries.

The big winners on the night were Drops of God winning best drama series, Timothy Spall winning best actor, Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying winning best actress, División Palermo winning best comedy and Liebes Kind winning best miniseries.

In the best drama category, Apple TV+’s French-American-Japanese manga adaptation Drops of God, produced by Legendary Television, won out against 1980s-set Australian series The Newsreader; the Amazon Prime Video Argentina espionage thriller Yosi, the Regretful Spy; and the Disney+/Hotstar series The Night Manager, an Indian adaptation of the 2016 BBC show of the same name.

British acting legend Timothy Spall went into the ceremony as favorite in the best actor category, nominated for his turn in the BBC true-crime tale The Sixth Commandment, and duly walked away with the award.

French-Japanese drama series “Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God],” Argentinian comedy series “División Palermo” and actor Timothy Spall were among the winners at the 52nd annual International Emmy Awards.

Hosted by stand-up comedian Vir Das, the ceremony took place Monday at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel. This year, 21 countries were represented across 14 categories and 56 nominees.

During the evening, French actor Omar Sy presented the International Emmy Directorate Award to Gaumont CEO Sidonie Dumas, while writer and producer David E. Kelley received the International Emmys Founder Award from Michael Pressman.

Streaming giants are a force to be reckoned with in the race for the 52nd International Emmys, organized by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, as they approach the awards on Nov. 25 in New York.

Nominees for drama series include Season 2 of Prime Video’s Argentine thriller “Yosi, the Regretful Spy,” based on the real story of an Argentine police agent who infiltrates a Jewish community. Also nominated is Disney+ Hotstar’s Indian remake of BBC/AMC’s John le Carré adaptation “The Night Manager,” about a corrupt and dangerous arms dealer.

They compete alongside Apple TV+’s “Drops of God,” adapted from a manga series, about the estranged daughter of a French wine expert who must compete with her father’s Japanese protégé in a series of tests; and Season 2 of Prime Video’s “The Newsreader,” about the cut-throat world of Australian news media in the 1980s.

Perhaps one of the biggest elements of Metaphor: ReFantazio, aside from battling, is developing your relationship with your followers. Followers are the backbone of your entire campaign for the throne and as you bond with them throughout your playthrough, many offer valuable rewards in exchange for your friendship.

Metaphor: ReFantazio's Necromancer Takedown and its associated dungeon, the Regalith Grand Cathedral, is the first introduction to time management for players. Players face a deadline to defeat the necromancer Zorba while gaining access to the activities available within Grand Trad. Properly timing the dungeon's completion, activities, requests, and bounties can be overwhelming initially. Still, it is a great way to make the dungeon run smoothly and create a solid foundation as the game opens up.

Like Persona's Palaces, players receive a calendar deadline to enter the dungeon and defeat Zorba in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Activities like shopping, listening in on conversations, and meeting with More do not progress time forward. However, once done, other activities will take the time slot you are currently in.

Record of Ragnarok is a strange beast of a seinen franchise, with an incredibly popular Netflix Original Net Animation (or Ona) of Coamix's 2017 manga by Shinya Umemura.
