Desperately looking for a replacement for ANNIKA I stumbled upon this series..Born in Germany to Russian/German parents with connections to Poland, I find this extremely appealing. Also, living on the Rocky Mountains for 50+ years, I thoroughly enjoy the elegic and familiar countryside of the Baltic Sea. - continuity between seasons is kind of lacking, but still an extremely worthwhile series Love it! The countryside reminds of of the book: "Before the feast"- "Vor dem Fest" by Sasha Stanisic(in German) it absolutely captures this specific and elgic countryside.(the fox) Thank you PBS Montana!
Der Usedom-krimi was filmed over 6 years, and had 13 episodes, which may explain why I felt as though I had 'missed something', whilst watching the first instalment channel 4 aired, continuity, was at times, confusing; the Thiels moving, Karin's hair, and the season changes all started to niggle away, until season 2, ep2 iced the cake. With no reference to the events from s2, ep1, I may as well have not seen a single episode prior. All were going about their business as if nothing had happened, and this, sadly, meant the end of the show for me, if the writers didn't care, why should I?
This is a well-acted & well-crafted series about an odd Police Inspector on the Baltic (aka Baltic Crimes) island of Usedom, an elegant island with a German-Polish ethnicity. Played by Lisa Potthof, Marie Thiel is a Police officer with a few problems: her mom, a former judge, was just paroled after a long stretch for shooting Marie's dad; Marie, happily married to an entrepreneur & former cop, is carrying on an affair with a Polish police officer from the far side of the island; and her pretty daughter has learned of the trysts & is starting to rebel.
I was surprised when I vetted this series (it's European, after all) to find no IMDB PG content warning, but, in public interest, I can suggest you keep your hand on the FF button! The females in the show, young and older, are attractive and as aggressive as the men. (I don't know if this reflects reality or the writers' version of reality).
A funny thing I noticed in the first 2 episodes: straightforward crimes become more complicated as the story unfolds. I have never seen this style before. Also, the scenery on this Baltic isle is quite fetching. (In case you didn't know, you access it over a causeway-it's not an isle 25 miles away from the Coast.). Enjoy!

A decent watchable series with some interesting characters and half-decent plots.
I treat these as stand-alone plots and as far as continuity goes? So what....have you watched Vera?

I enjoyed this series, the settings, the back story and how the family of the main character unfolds alongside a different murder each episode. The characters are engaging and played well. The storyline is a very adult one without being smutty like others which I appreciated. It is set on the German and Poland border and contains mainly German language but also some polish.
