No pun intended of course! And a movie that is about waiting - another pun? I guess so - but that aside the movie does move as slow as one may imagine (fear). Pacing wise this is something you have to accept it for what it is - the main character seems to have quite the boring life. Until there seems to be a new interesting neighbor.
If you have the patience to stick with the movie and the characters, there is an interesting movie - and some interesting beats to absorb. He may be lethargic or not - the question is if you can stick with him and the movie. So suspend your disbelief and go with the flow.

This film will definitely not be everyone's cup of tea. I would say it falls under the Greek Weird Wave and people who admire Lanthimo's work will definitely enjoy watching it. The dialogues are short and weird, the sounds of the city and nature very vivid and heightened, and the movements of the protagonists almost do not represent typical behaviours. From a psychological point of view, it creates dilemmas around ethical behaviour and consequences of actions. I hold a lot of respect for Servetalis and Stankoglou, and their great acting is to recognise. The sceneries and depiction of Athens as a city will give a sense of loneliness and romanticism to people who are born and raised there (at least that's what happened to me, I admired my city through the director's lenses). The cinematography and direction is outstanding, definitely a director to follow. I hope we see more of his work soon, and how exciting he has opened that path for the Greek cinema.
A cold film. Precise storytelling and clear definition of life for a waiter. A lonely one, part of his daily routine, from job and dialogues with his colegue, to the terrible events and the manner to survive to them and proposition of new perspective , not comfortable of happiness. A film like a challenge to the public because ot propose ,in inspired manner, questions about connection with your job, about superficial known next door neighbour, about live and freedom , about hobbies and colegues from work and clients and general knowledge and strangers and well prepared dishes. So, just a special film.
The filmography/photography was the star in this movie. The acting of the two male leads was very good, but the female lead only had two expressions on her face during the entire film:slightly shocked or somewhat afraid. The plot wasn't particularly interesting either and all the characters were 2-dimensional, including The Waiter. I think if we'd learned more about what made him tick, the reasons behind his actions, this would be a much more interesting movie, because as it was it lacked depth.
When you see a movie categorized as "arthouse", its best to stay away,
That way, you won't be sorry to have wasted 1-3 hours of your time, watching some meaningless meanderings of people/places/situations, without any real idea of what is going on.
Sure, in this "movie", there are some definite things, but what they have to do with each other and why things happen the way the "director" puts them in, is totally unknown.
The arthouse label seems to have been devised in order for piss takers to put nonsense together and to persuade the critics & the public (while chuckling under their breaths), that their movie is a cerebral exploration of %^$£@*{+!><:"{}£$%($£@.
Don't waste your time. Find a real movie to watch.
Director: best get another job, where you actually do something.
