Goofs
There are several extreme anachronisms in the film. In the intro, the two thieves are talking about having phonograph and car once they escape from France (the intro takes place in 1883, when name "phonograph" didn't exist and when cars were not yet manufactured.

In the outro (which takes place in 1885 or (early) 1886), one of the characters is driving a car that is obviously not Benz Patent-Motorwagen, made in that year, but a car from the late 1890s or early 1900s.
