This series is one of the most underrated anime shows. It's a beautifully done animation. The story is inspirational, characters are well developed, and each episode has a strong story revolving around one or two key events. Even the filler episodes contribute to the importance of the grand finale. I do wish that, towards the end, there was more inventiveness. Some things become repetitive and less new skills are introduced.
The voice acting is great. The art style is amazing. The imagination of the artists is exemplary: if a shot/skill has a name, it's because it deserves a name and the animation and sound effects show it really well. The Razor shot, the Falcon shot, the Skylab Hurricane (lol), etc.
There are two weaknesses to the show, however, that you'd only notice if you have seen the original anime. This show has toned down the drama in the original series. Because of that the sound track is often happy and less suspenseful. Moreover, some dramatic events in the original story have been toned down.
Overall I recommend this show, if you liked Haikyu. But keep in mind this show is less about being realistic and more of an epic.

As a kid, I grew up on the original series. We were hmm 10 years old kids, and everytime after the episode, we were playing football. Well, we played football all the time, but still ;)
What I want to say is that, you did a great job here :) Sure, it's nostalgia too, but at the same time, you ... improved the original one.
I would say it's one of the most underrated series. It beautiful, it's about having dreams, having good sport values (respect for the opponent etc.), and it's really exciting seeing all these new opponents where each one brings something new on the table :)
As a grown man now ;), I can truly say, that you made a lot of people (those who know the original series) very happy making this series again. You didn't break anything, and you did all improvements / changes very nicely :)
I also, kind of teleported to me having 10 years old ;)

- the voice acting is great
- the animation itself is beautiful
- you smartly cut out the waaay too long scenes of the original, so it now fits more to the current times :)
- you introduced a lot of characters very nicely, it's like there is a story behind them, they have more depth

I'm not a fan of football at all, nor even anime but I LOVED THIS SHOW.
There's something about it, not in any other show. I just hope they make sequels!

Captain Tsubasa is a fun anime to watch even if you don't like soccer. The usual recipe of the underdog team that goes for the top and exceeds expectations, the protagonist who overcomes himself to overcome problematic situations and exciting matches full of incredible goals, saves and spectacular skills does not disappoint.
Last but not least, if he was introduced to the Captain Tsubasa franchise as a child, he will probably enjoy it even more as it might bring back some childhood memories.
