I came for the MMO, but stayed for the incredible story that raided me unexpectedly. This is a beautiful story about two players who learn to play an MMO together... but things take an unexpected twist early on in the show. I can't say much more about this Anime without spoiling it, so I guess you're just going to have to take my word for it... Just be sure to stick around for episode 4. I found myself laughing, clapping, and almost falling over in embarrassment for the characters multiple times... I only planned on watching a few episodes, but I was unable to stop once I started, finishing the entire Anime in one sitting... I loved it!
Some of the cons you might find depending on your taist: Most of the anime takes place outside of the MMO, so if the MMO aspect is all you are here for you may be disappointed. The coincidences are very strong in this show, but I still had a wonderful time watching it.

"Recovery of an MMO Junkie" is a heartwarming tale that delves into the life of Moriko Morioka, a thirty-year-old woman who decides to quit her job and retreat into the world of online gaming. As she navigates her new life as a "NEET" (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), she discovers not only the joys and friendships within her virtual world but also begins to find herself in the process.
The story beautifully explores themes of self-discovery, friendship, and the balance between online and offline realities. Through her interactions in the game as her male avatar, Moriko meets a kind and supportive guildmate, leading to unexpected connections that transcend the boundaries of the digital world. These relationships help her confront her insecurities and gradually reintegrate into society with newfound confidence.
"Recovery of an MMO Junkie" resonates with anyone who has ever sought solace in digital realms, offering a touching reminder of the importance of personal growth and the incredible bonds that can form in the most unexpected places.

As a short 13 episode show, Recovery of an MMO Junkie actually makes me want to see more. This anime could be seen as a standard romance, but in my opinion its the little things and the characters in particular that make this one stand out. The main character is very interesting to me as on the surface she can seem a bit depressed but in actuality she just has her preferences for what she enjoys, which I think most viewers can connect to. The rest of the cast serves their purpose, but outside the main guy and his best friend the rest are a bit forgettable. I also really like the opening and ending songs, and they work well setting the tone for what your watching. Out of all the anime I've seen so far, this one lands in the top half and I would recommend you give it a try.
Sweet, funny and characters you can relate to if you have spent half your life in MMOs. I loved the atmosphere of the whole series and found myself wishing it had a ton more seasons... that said, I think the one season do well as a stand alone season. What a gem this was... a real find for me at least.
I'm not really a fan of romance, but this is good. I watched episode one, but I doubt I'll be watching any more. Its really awkward and kinda boring though well-written. The animation is ok, nothing really special. There isn't any music (at least in episode one) which leaves a lot of dead air where nothing happens. Though I was bored, I can see how someone who likes romance would like this.
