    Inconsistent, but strong

    (Series 1-3)

It's difficult to think of a sitcom that hits the heights of Man Like Mobeen. I watched one episode, in full, 3 times in a row the first time I saw it because I missed a large chunk of the episode through fits of laughter.

It is inconsistent, though. Some episodes feel a little laboured, and perhaps focus on the plot to a point where the jokes become secondary. At it's lows, the scenarios can feel a bit contrived.

The characters & casting are brilliant. Eight, Nate, and Mobeen are played to perfection. Officer Harper too. Uncle Shady is a delightfully oddball character. Special mention to the girl who plays Aqsa, who can crack me up with her facial expressions alone.

All in all, it's worth a watch. Some of it is *incredibly* funny and stands up to repeat watching. Hope there'll be another series.

    Absolutely Brilliant!

Found this by accident on Netflix then on iplayer. It's an amazing surprise we did not think we would laugh half as much as we did.

    Inner city laughs

In Birmingham's inner city lives Mobeen: former small time drug dealer and now surrogate father to his much younger sister. He's desperately trying to do the right thing by being a good brother, friend and Muslim but his idiotic friends and family are constantly landing him in it. Inner city Birmingham isn't somewhere that gets a lot of dramatic attention and this opens the doors to Mobeen's quirky, sometimes gritty and frequently surreal world. The characterisation is fantastic and in Uncle Shady has one of the funniest and most surreal characters for a long time.

    So damn good!

I don't understand the negative reviews. This show is brilliant on so many levels. The characters have great chemistry with amazing comedic timing. Only negative is there aren't enough episodes. At times I laughed so hard I cried 😂

Hilarious, Confident yet grounded in reality

Is it a laptop or a dead cat? Guz Kan leads with a virtuoso performance as his on screen persona Mobeen Dean. I've seen and heard Mobeen skits over the years, wildly funny yet pragmatic and to be able to see his own series become reality is truly a pleasure. Some of the jokes you may miss completely, either because you're not aware of the lexicon used or the cultural significance but it' still damn well funny.

Episode 2 is particularly brilliant and episode 4 closes with a more mature, in a Mobeen kinda way, debate on xenophobia and fear of the unknown/misunderstood. I enjoyed every episode and so will you too. Great acting and production was off a very good quality, I recognised all the locations as local to me which was a nice bonus. The direction was good and the editing linked it together well.

Brilliant. Looking forward to Mobeens return. Hopefully longer with more episodes!
