As some have said, it may remind you of The Wonders Years, but it's so much more!! I just watched the 6th episode of Season 1 and there were a good half dozen laugh out loud moments!!
Yes, this is close to the 80's The Goldbergs but it has its own niche. I know of families back in the 70's with 8 or more kids and you knew they were Catholic. The parents are great in this show, and the actors playing the kids do a great job ! Let's keep this show on!!
Coming from a big catholic family, this show is spot on!!
I absolutely love this show! Growing up not only in a (quarter-Irish) Catholic family, but as a teen in the early 70's, this show is spot-on. The cultural and religious references resonate and the decor and clothes take me back. And it is so funny!! The cast is fabulous, Mary McCormack is fantastic as the no-nonsense mom. The intro of no seat belts, bike helmets, etc. is a hoot and exactly what others in my age group talk about - we we're not raised as hothouse flowers and yet we survived growing up and went on to thrive. Judging by the majority of the other reviews, this is a well-loved show. ABC...are you reading this? Please don't cancel this gem of a show!!
