This has become so boringly predictable. Obviously the only guests he can get are his buddies and people with new shows on ITV. It has been over three years since he had guests that were all first time visitors. His forager is more than slightly irritating. And suspicious. She ain't just eatin' foraged greens! Yeah, like there's any nutritional information here. He has said that the butter you get in a restaurant is not like at home, then another time he says it reversed...but always ends with "so it won't hurt you!" Whilst he consumers ridiculous amounts on everything. Fine, that's his life/schtick, but don't teach younger cooks bad habits/advice. Why does he like to celebrate Covid? I have come close to destroying TV screens when he, predictably, toasts a new guest with "chin-chin". It's "ching-ching", you *are not being funny*. I guess it's just nostalgia for 2020-2022. What could be more irritating? Oh, maybe try mentioning "Ready, Steady, Cook" EVERY WEEK. That was 19 freaking years ago.
Do try to move on James. The bits where he trots out file footage of the series touring Spain or such is just pure unadulterated filler. Make the show shorter. Duh. But that's not tacky enough. Now they have to show entire programs of file footage, from Saturdays past, as "James Martin's Mid-week". So, why doesn't he adapt? I have to guess that the answer to that is in his "glamour pics". Look at how he poses. That is someone that has zero concept that anything he's doing needs to change. He's perfect just the way he is. Great. Keep telling that to those desperate enough to continually fill time on your show. They'll no doubt agree with you. And BTW, it's not a cooking program if you only *watch* people cook. There have been recipes that he spends less than 2 minutes talking about a 20 minute recipe, never lists the ingredients comprehensively, but manages to go into every.little.boring.detail of some inane episode in the guest's life. And you haven't lived in Yorkshire for 34 years. You're as Hampshire as a Hampshire pig. Get Geoffrey Boycott on your show and let's see how Yorkshire he finds you.
