A Short But Inspiring Running Documentary

"Breaking2" (2017) is about 3 runners trying to be the first human to run a marathon distance (26.2 miles or 42.195 kilometers) in under 2-hours. Even for non-runners this film has a strong motivating quality to it that will get you pushing for your next goal regardless of its relation to running.

A marathon is long but this documentary is less than half the length of the goal at around 56 minutes and it never lets up. But that's also where I fault it as constantly pushes but doesn't dwell long enough throughout the journey of this goal and eventual race.

This project is Nike led if its not obvious by the numerous display of Nike gear and logos, but it is not biased in its work. Without knowing the outcome of the race you are left rooting for each racer as they push themselves farther than ever before. It's an honest film that admits there could be a human limit to perfection but maintains that we are not there yet as the project makes an attempt to do what has been believed to be impossible.

I wish the film was longer or more stretched out, but its pretty good and has definitely left an impact on me as this event pushed me to my passion in running when the Breaking2 had occurred. Highly recommend for all people but especially for runners, young people, cross country (or really any youth sport team/club), and to those who are over coming a hurdle in their life.
