The Lonesome Thing

'The Lonesome Thing (2017)' is, in a sense, a sequel to 'The Whisperer (2016)' because that it stars the same creature. Though the short's efforts to present a more character-focused narrative are admirable, it ultimately falls a little short of the mark and isn't scary in the slightest. The narrative has a ton of potential, don't get me wrong, and the thing is technically competent in general. It's just a bit underwhelming overall (I think I've used that word in all my reviews of Donahue's work thus far, which isn't a great sign). It isn't bad, but it isn't particularly good, either. It's alright. 5/10.

Its mark. Its style. A man in an empty white room talking with a presence. Nice photography, precise story. And, like for each of his short-short films, the viewer becomes the real partner of director, continuing his story, proposing to himself new nuances and levels.
