I almost didn't watch thsi because of the bad reviews. I am glad I did. Yes the movie is stupid but that's what makes it funny. I had a really good time watching this. Would have been even better if I were stoned though.
Do not look at the 1 star reviews here on imdb, for a Netflix comedy it was actually pretty decent and had far more original funny scenes than i had anticipated, of course some of the scenes were cringy, but that is besides the point, it is supposed to be an over the top teen comedy.
David Spade and Nat Faxon were great in this movie, usually not the biggest fan of these actors, can not understand why people give this movie horrible reviews/ratings. This film is just simple, dumb fun and nothing more, do not take it seriously, sit back, relax and enjoy the dumb Adam Sandler type of fun.

A 6/10 for a comedy is ok in my book. Still doesn't have replay value but I'm happy to watch a comedy in this era that doesn't involve the plot line of everyone getting hammered or partying. It fell short but not a garbage movie.
This movie had a lot of promise after watching the trailer; however, it was poorly executed. Poor sense of humor, semi tolerable plot, and decent acting is how I would describe this movie. After the first 20 minutes, you realize you're better off watching something else.
Father of the Year, not to be confused with Worlds Greatest Dad (2009) is a standard Hollywood comedy movie made by Happy Madison studio.
It tells the story of two friends who debate who would win between their fathers in a fight. One being a trailer park loveable loser played by David Spade and the other a wimpy scientist played by Nat Faxon (Who I keep mixing up with Ed Helms for some reason).
They play it safe, if you enjoy Happy Madison movies you'll likely get a kick out of this however on the flipside if you don't then skip over it.
Spade provides his usual brand of goofy physical humor and as usual it works, I chuckled out loud several times throughout the film. A couple of scenes in particular had me in near stitches which comedies rarely do these days.
Sure the whole movie isn't of that consistently great quality but at no point does it really get bad.
Also starring the adorable Bridgit Mendler who has an overwhelming likeability factor and a few of Sandlers friends this is a very passable comedy effort and a good way of killing 90 minutes.
The Good:
Spade and Mendler
Some genuine laughs
Interesting ideas mixed in there
The Bad:
Goes stale a couple of times
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
Spade only ever plays one character, and that's fine with me
Faxon IS Helms, I don't care what anyone says! That dude is getting 2 paychecks.
