The American French Film Festival returns for its 28th annual event at the DGA Theater Complex from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3. The festival will showcase 60 films and series, including 14 shorts and 14 series or TV movies. It will open with France’s official selection for Oscar consideration, “Emilia Pérez,” and close with the new rendition of the classic Alexandre Dumas novel “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Petelliére.

This marks the first time 16 of these features will be presented to an audience in Hollywood after premiering at the latest editions of the Berlin, Cannes, and Venice International Film Festivals. Additionally, 59 of the selected works will be up for the Tafff Awards.

Wisp, one of our artists to watch in 2024, has announced her debut EP, Pandora, out April 5th via Interscope. What’s more, the buzzing shoegaze artist has also mapped out a US tour and shared the latest single, “Enough for you.”

Spanning six tracks, Pandora includes previously released singles like Wisp’s breakout song, “Your face,” “Once then we’ll be free,” and “See you soon” — all of which are characterized by her ethereal vocals and distorted guitar riffs drawing inspiration from Deftones and Whirr. Buzzing shoegaze revivalist Wisp has released a hazy new single, “See you soon,” demonstrating why she was a no-brainer for our list of artists to watch in 2024.

Featuring swirling, distorted guitars and airy vocals, “See you soon” builds toward a cathartic release in the chorus, as she sings about the sometimes one-sided nature of relationships. Check out the official visualizer, directed by Nick Vernet and Sophia Álverez, below.

In a statement, Wisp shared the meaning behind the song, saying it’s “about being infatuated with a person and wanting to spend all of your time with them, but the resolve at the end of the song represents knowing that person will not last and the feelings on their side aren’t as passionate as yours.”

“See you soon” follows Wisp’s breakout song, “Your Face,” and her most recent single, “Once then we’ll be free,” the latter of which dropped in late October.

“Resident Evil” producer Constantin Film has acquired the rights to Lee Goldberg’s movie script for thriller “The Walk,” which he adapted from his bestselling novel. Goldberg has served as the showrunner of “Diagnosis Murder” and “Martial Law.”

In “The Walk,” after an apocalyptic earthquake, a studio exec is making his way by foot from downtown L.A. to the San Fernando Valley to find his family and has to reluctantly team up with an unusual traveler going the same direction. At long last, the first full-length trailer for “Birds of Prey,” featuring Margot Robbie’s colorful alter-ego, has made its worldwide debut.

DC Comics released the official trailer for its forthcoming film Tuesday, showing Harley Quinn’s transformation from Joker’s sidekick to leader of the group of antiheroes.

“You know what a harlequin is? A harlequin’s role is to serve. It’s nothin without a master,” Harley Quinn intones in a voiceover.

“No one gives two s—s who we are beyond that,” she continues as she takes a shot.

Good bad movies are hard to come by, but thank goodness for director David Mahmoudieh’s “See You Soon.” He and co-writer, co-producer and leading lady Jenia Tanaeva have crafted quite possibly the best bad movie of 2019. This stupidly sweet, albeit conventional romantic drama about two downhearted souls falling in love is unabashedly unafraid to embrace fantasy and lean into cheesy, gooey sentimentality. Steamier and sleeker than a Hallmark Channel movie, but with just as many idealized scenarios, it’s “so bad, it’s good” escapism at its finest.

World-famous U.S. soccer player Ryan Hawkes (Liam McIntyre) is on the verge of taking his team to the World Cup. His hard work and good looks have landed him a high-powered agent (Harvey Keitel), a gorgeous fiancée (Poppy Drayton) and a slew of multi-million-dollar endorsements. He’s an arrogant athlete whose lapse in judgement causes him to drive home drunk and distracted by Instagram.

Liam McIntyre stars, with newcomer Russian actress Jenia Tanaeva as his love interest, plus a small cast including Harvey Keitel, Poppy Drayton, Oleg Taktarov, and Carla Abruzzo. This looks as cheesy and as cliche as you might expect, but the globe-spanning scope of it makes it worth a watch. And that bridge jump shot at the end is also worth it.

Vertical Entertainment has picked up domestic rights to “See You Soon,” the story of a U.S. soccer star who embarks on a romance with a single mother, Variety has learned.

The film’s characters’ lives intersect after the soccer player suffers a career-ending injury in the lead-up to the World Cup. It stars Liam McIntyre (“Spartacus: War of the Damned”), Harvey Keitel, Poppy Drayton (“Downton Abbey”) and newcomer Jenia Tanaeva. The company plans to release the movie on July 26. “See You Soon” is the feature directorial debut of David Mahmoudieh. Central Partnership is handling foreign sales. The sale was finalized at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The film also stars Oleg Taktarov (“Predators”), Spanish soccer legend Carles Puyol and Larissa Malevannaya. Tanaeva wrote the script with Mike Cestari. The romantic drama is produced by Tanaeva under her Rising Moon Prods. banner and Monella Kaplan for eMotion Entertainment, with Alexander Mikhalskiy executive producing.

Margot Robbie revealed the first glimpse at her new take on the DC antiheroine and the rest of the cast of the upcoming female-driven “Birds of Prey” superhero film.

In a short teaser video titled “See You Soon,” an ’80s pop beat plays over quick glimpses of the cast in full costume. Robbie looks particularly joyful as Harley, happier than when we last saw her in prison at the end of 2016’s “Suicide Squad.” Robbie also posted a shot of the new look on her Instagram.

Still keeping her famous baseball bat and tattoos, Harley Quinn is now complete with a shorter haircut and a neon pink outfit covered in confetti. Officially titled “Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn),” there’s a good chance that the movie will see a Harley Quinn liberated from her often toxic relationship with the Joker.

Birds of Prey is officially underway and we even have a brief teaser already, which offers our first look at the main characters set to appear in this latest DC Comics adaptation. Ever since the moment that Suicide Squad shattered the box office, Warner Bros. has been working on a spin-off movie centered on Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. Several projects entered development, but this is the one that managed to get the green light and, after much discussion, it's on the road to becoming a reality. And it already looks wild.

For months now, we've been tracking the casting, production, and writing news surrounding DC's upcoming all-female Superhero Team-up movie, Birds of Prey.  The main takeaway from those months is that WB is very motivated to get this film on the big screen, which typically bodes well for the quality of the film.  With a stellar cast, featuring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, a script by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, and Cathy Yan helming the picture, Warner Bros. The Birds of Prey movie will adapt the Gotham-centric DC superhero team, headlined by Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Margot Robbie is about to return for her own Harley Quinn movie, which is known as Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn.. We'll just call it Birds of Prey for brevity and sanity's sake, but still.

Director Cathy Yan will be the first Asian American woman to direct a superhero film. Christina Hodson, whose name you may recognize as the writer of the upcoming Batgirl movie, as well as the excellent Bumblebee, wrote the script.

Harvey Keitel is set to star in David Mahmoudieh's feature directorial debut See You Soon alongside Liam McIntyre and newcomer Jenia Tanaeva.

The romantic drama follows a soccer star's journey of self-discovery after suffering a life-threatening injury in the running for the 2018 World Cup.
