Australia’s Pixel Zoo Animation Studios, which has done service work for leading global brands such as Bratz and L.O.L. – Surprise!, is moving into original content production with the launch of a new division, Pixel Labs, and has tapped Emmy Award-winning kids TV veteran Josh Fisher to lead its development efforts.

Fisher will oversee Pixel Labs from a new Los Angeles office, marking the Brisbane-based studio’s first expansion into the U.S. The announcement was shared with Variety by Pixel Zoo founder and CEO Paul Gillett and head of studio Sebastian Gonzalez.

Disney’s hotly anticipated Snow White is finally here, but did critics love it? To divert attention from the many controversies incited by lead actress Rachel Zegler’s outspoken stance, the House of Mouse desperately seeks favorable reviews to woo audiences.

Unfortunately for Disney, when it confidently lifted the review embargo on Wednesday, expecting a positive critical reception, the results were quite the contrary. Snow White has manifested a milquetoast response, with even its positive reviews ceasing well short of calling it a masterpiece.

Snow White holds a 48% “rotten” score on the namesake site after 83 critics weighed in, its aggregated score stranded at 5.5/10. While not abysmal, this number falls below Disney’s recent middling releases, including Moana 2 (61%) and Mufasa: The Lion King (57%). Over on Metacritic, Snow White sits at an equally unimpressive 46.

Come 2025 she is back again with a new film, Holland, in which she plays a picture-perfect teacher and homemaker in the small midwestern town of Holland, Mich., who suspects her husband (played by Matthew Macfadyen) of living a double life. Fresh off the success of her A24 hit Babygirl, Nicole Kidman is back at it again in Holland, the new thriller from director Mimi Cave (Fresh) and writer Andrew Sodroski (Manhunt) that's set to hit Prime Video on March 27, 2025. Also starring Gael García Bernal and Matthew Macfadyen, the new trailer for the film was just released by the streaming service (seen below) and showcases how Kidman's seemingly perfect life gets upended when she suspects her husband of living a double life.

Giving off a very The Stepford Wives vibe – which starred Kidman in the 2004 adaptation of Ira Levin's novel – the Holland trailer begins with a voiceover from the star as we see images of the picturesque town of Holland, Michigan. Javier Bardem’s upcoming Spanish-language drama “El Ser Querido” from multiple Goya Award-winning writer-director Rodrigo Sorogoyen is heading to the EFM with the English title “The Beloved,” with Goodfellas launching the project to buyers.

The film — also starring Victoria Luengo (“The Room Next Door”) — is a drama about an acclaimed film director and his daughter, a struggling actress. After years of estrangement, they make a movie together, and are forced to confront a troubled past neither of them has wanted to face. Sorogoyen wrote the screenplay.

The film is being produced by Sorogoyen’s Madrid production label Caballo Films, with Movistar Plus+ and Le Pacte co-producing. The latter will release the movie in France.

There are certain comic book villains who never truly lose. Dr. Doom is a perfect example of this. Even when he’s defeated by the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, or Thor, Victor von Doom somehow comes out with something to claim victory. Whether it’s tech to build a better machine or learning a new weakness in his opponents, Doom never truly loses.

We're all going to see that play out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon, too, as Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise to portray Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. He will serve as the Big Bad of the Multiverse Saga, which is expected to conclude with those films. And it's a great choice considering that Doom is a character who, like we said, rarely loses.

Gaga teamed up with MasterCard to premiere the track and video during a commercial break at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The tightly choreographed video offers the sort of energetic pop chorus and darkly theatrical visuals that defined the pop star’s early work. The track itself features a sample of another magic-themed song, Siouxsie and the Banshees’ 1981 single “Spellbound.”

The idea’s origins stretch all the way back to 1966, when New York station Wpix began broadcasting its Yule Log program with Christmas music playing in the background.

This year, Netflix has taken this tradition and added a twist: Three one-hour shows, which include a burning fireplace set within the world of a hit show. Squid Game Fireplace, for instance, is within the office of the Front Man. While Bridgerton Fireplace is set in an elegant Regency-era living room. Spellbound Fireplace puts viewers in the magical wilderness of Lumbria.
