Another great Clapton film theme song

Another great moment of Eric Clapton providing a theme song for a movie and the music video for "Change the World" promoting Jon Turteltaub's "Phenomenon" starring John Travolta. The real shame was how the incredible song was used in the film itself, as a background song briefly playing on a radio rather than fully used at the end credits with a chance of getting some Oscar recognition. Clapton is no stranger to film scores and songs, and on that decade we had "Tears in Heaven" (used in "Rush"), "It's Probably Me" and Runaway Train" (duets with Sting and Elton John featured in "Lethal Weapon 3") and "Blue Eyes Blue" (for "Runaway Bride"), and all of them got clips made.

I love everything about "Change the World", it's one of those irresistible songs that makes one feel good, light-hearted and it sounds great. But for the life of me I didn't get the visual concept of Clapton playing his guitar on an empty train station with clips from the film played over a moving train and ghost-like people walking around the station. I understand the supernatural quality of the film as the Travolta character is hit by a mysterious light and develops multiple intriguing powers and skills but there's nothing about contact with dead people or phantoms; it's more like something from outer space. The clip idea feels weird, not relevant to promote the film. So, the big enjoyment comes from the song and the key moments from "Phenomenon" that are shown. 9/10.
