In fact, I was referred to Your Honor made in the U. S. but when I read that it was adapted from an Israeli series, I decided to "go back to the roots" and see Kvodo (I do not mind reading subtitles)... And I was pleased from the very beginning: characters, performances, atmosphere, Israeli-Palestinian issues, jews of Russian origin - to name a few. The story just unfolded in a captivating way, flashbacks included, and an evident simple possible cover-up developed into a huge problem set with snowball effect, backed by strong performances, skillful camera work and suitable soundtrack. Some scenes were not visual to the full, with the next scene providing information what really took place (catchier ones were in Season 1, the pace of Season 2 was somewhat slower). And to the very end, I was unable to surmise how the things end, who would die and who would survive - as a lot and often was hanging by the thread...
Well, currently I am not sure that I am going to watch any remake/adaptation as not knowing what happens next / how things develop create additional thrill and watching desire.

Alkobi's character is so well designed and portrayed. I feel for the father all the time and likely would have done exactly the maneuvers he did to save his son. Calculative, ballsy, sacrificing and yet looking for fairness all along - my older version. I could not help but binge through 4-5 episodes back-to-back even past midnight. No time wasted crying and wondering when the twist of fate is on your heels. Shai, the harebrained son, was the character I disliked the most. At first I thought it was his laid back acting, only to realise it's a laid back teenager who takes responsibility with a hot head rather than a balanced mind. I have seen spoilt brats like that and have blamed the parents for it. But this series made me worry if the freedom I give to my son may end him up like Shai. Or perhaps I am the one missing the plot. That was the beauty of the writing on the thin razor's edge that even now I can't decide which side I am on.
I was seeing this series to get a glimpse of Israel. I thought it was more tech savvy and modern than they showed. But then likely its like most developing countries engulfing both the east and the west within itself across the bridge.

It took me a lot of effort to be able to watch it (i am EU based). I mean this series is no mainstream and not available on Netflix or any other of that kind of services. I managed (with a vpn) to watch it on "SBS on demand Australia". It was worth the effort and my compliments to the director and producer.
At first i thought the premise was unlikely, but the acting, directing and substories were so superb, making it a good watch, very enjoyable. US Showtime picked it up, made their version, which is way less believable and therefore just tedious. Yoram Hattab, as always, is excellent!
