This is an incredibly well shot and acted short film, Rosa Coduri is the standout, her performance is masterful. The direction and camera work is also excellent while the score tugs at your heart strings when its supposed to. This was clearly made with a professional crew who love their craft. This is what they don't teach you at film school!
Nadia tackles the issue of homelessness in a relatable way. This is an unfortunate way of life for millions of people around the world and as this short demonstrates, help is there, people do care and are willing to help. Accordingly, the relationship between Nadia and her teacher Anthony is well developed.
There are a couple of flashbacks which give insights into both Nadia's and Anthony's backgrounds. I feel that flashbacks can be jarring yet in this instance they are necessary and the latter has some exposition where we learn about the rights young adults have when faced with life on the streets. I even got to found out about things I didn't know before.
When Anthony breaks the fourth wall it took me out of the film, it started to feel like a documentary all of a sudden. That is my only issue with Nadia!
We need more educational shorts like this, it is an eye opener. Million Youth Media seem to be on a roll and rightly so.
A well-deserved 8 ½/10
