In 2005, famous Capitals owner, Ted Leonsis commissioned local, Washington D.C. filmmaker Jeff Krulik to create video content for the internet based on his legendary, 1986 documentary Heavy Metal Parking Lot. The project never materialized and it wasn't until Jeff passed the footage to his friend and fellow filmmaker, Greg DeLiso - who also happened to be a hockey fan. Greg created the "time capsule" concept as the footage had aged ten years.
