As a comedy, "Come un gatto in tangenziale" is about as funny as a traffic jam on the actual Tangenziale. You might chuckle politely once or twice, but don't expect any belly laughs. Paola Cortellesi plays Monica, a supposedly vulgar, tattooed suburban mom with a wardrobe from the bargain bin of bad taste. Her son hooks up with the daughter of Giovanni, an upper-class intellectual who works for that rarest of cinematic species, a "think tank." Naturally, the parents disapprove, and naturally, they stumble into each other's arms. Unlikely? Forced? You bet.
Comic relief is allegedly provided by Monica's twin sisters, two overweight petty thieves who seem to have wandered in from an amateur talent show, by Claudio Amendola (the best of the bunch) as Monica's equally tattooed ex-husband, and by Giovanni's predictably snobbish ex-wife. Unfortunately, nobody delivers anything that feels remotely fresh. And the biggest problem is Cortellesi herself. She's far too slim, pretty, and effortlessly classy to pass as a coarse, low-class woman, no matter how many fake tattoos you slap on her. The result is a comedy that feels like it was declawed before it left the vet.

I found the score overrated, and i one website called it one of the funnest film in 20 years. Definitively wrong, I had high expectations, but none of the family liked it, just an average comedy. Funny moments are predictable, and also the plot is. Look for other comedies if you look for fun!

This Italian comedy about different social classes, about the center and the periphery and about the high culture and the low is loaded with stereotypes and in the end it is predictable but has some light criticism.
That would be a great prequel for a tv series where Monica and Giovanni get married and we see them living together! Oh that would be so much fun! It would also be interesting seeing their children reaction in living together! I hope someone sees this comment and considers making a tv series!
It is hard to watch as it is really boring. I was watching that only because of interesting story and characters. I guess I shall not watch the second part.
