As an indie film enthusiast, I like my dramas heavy with implication, and my romcoms engaging and uplifting. I'm also a dog lover who once owned the most physically and spiritually beautiful dog who will ever be made, and I often wondered what my results would've look like if I had used her as my cultural ambassador in approaching women. Hmm...
No wonder then: I was an easy mark for Jade Jenise Dixon's Dog Park, which leverages the boy (and dog) meets girl theme, and puts our canine pals right there in the center of the lens where they belong. Dixon's story is well-crafted, and the production value is there, blurring the lines between big-budget indie and lower-budget major studio Hollywood. As is the case with any romantic comedy, one has to believe the two lead actors -- both as separate entities and as a proposed couple-in-the-making -- and the casting here ensures that box is well-checked.
This is a highly enjoyable indie film done exceedingly well; a testament to the craft of those involved.

Romance? Check. Comedy? Check. Drama? Check. DOGS? Check! I loved how this movie checked off all the genres I am interested in watching. You'll probably learn some wise life lessons while you're at it too -- I enjoyed Mary's character a lot. If you haven't watched it yet, I suggest you do!
A really charming romantic comedy, with relatable likeable leads, witty dialogue and a great central idea. If you're after a really light hearted fun movie with gorgeous dogs, there's no better option.
I read the reviews and only one bad one, all the rest really good. Well the minority was so right. The plot is contrived, the acting is poor, I could hardly finish watching. And the boo-breakers or whatever they were called? Is this a cartoon? Completely ridiculous. I thought of writing a review saying that maybe if the actress who plays a director in the movie - and is called a good director - directed the movie, it would be a lot better. Then it turns out the actress who played the director in the movie WAS the director! NOT a good director.
I'm not normally a rom-com type of guy but my girlfriend picked this one out the other night and I actually loved it. Probably because I'm a sucker for dog movies, lol. The acting was really good and the story was fun. I would actually watch it again if I were in a bad mood and needed a natural lift. .
