As Europe Nixes Moviegoing and Skiing, Dubai’s Vox Cinemas Opens First Middle East Cinema in the Snow
Image
As Europe cracks down on moviegoing and ski tourism to stem Covid-19 infections, Dubai-based exhibitor Vox Cinemas is instead launching a movie theater in an indoor ski resort being touted as the Middle East’s first cinema in the snow.

Located inside Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates — which is home to the city’s indoor, snow-covered ski hill and to penguin shows — Vox Cinema’s new Snow Cinema features socially-distanced lounge-style seating and a wide range of comfort food options. Besides popcorn, they comprise: hot chocolate, also peppermint flavored, and a savory menu that includes roasted baby potatoes topped with raclette, hotdogs and burgers, all to be followed by “decadent desserts such as festive mince pies and gingerbread Dutch pancakes,” according to promotional materials.

As for the movies menu, besides family-friendly festive favorites such as “The Grinch,” “Frozen 2” and “Daddy’s Home 2” other titles set to play the...

BondIt Media Capital & ‘The Great Alaskan Race’ Producer Brian Presley Partner On 5-Picture Slate
Image
Film and content financier BondIt Media Capital is teaming with Brian Presley’s P12 Films to back a slate of five features.

The two companies said the deal would cover original stories and adapted content. P12 produced The Great Alaskan Race, which Presley directed and starred in, set in 1925 and telling the tale of a group of brave mushers who travelled 700 miles to save the small children of an Alaskan town. The producer says it is giving a percentage of distribution fees from the film to five different non-profit organizations.

P12 is now in post on Presley’s second feature, The Orphan Train, set in a post-Civil War time, and is developing a slate of further socially conscious movies.

BondIt’s credits include backing Roland Emmerich’s Midway and Roadside Attraction’s The Peanut Butter Falcon.

“I’m excited about pushing our positive momentum at P12 with Matthew Helderman at BondIt.

Kevin Bacon, Bridget Fonda, Bob Hoskins, Phil Collins, Jack Angel, Jim Cummings, Danny Mann, and Robbie Rist in Balto chien-loup, héros des neiges (1995)
Film Review: ‘The Great Alaskan Race’
Kevin Bacon, Bridget Fonda, Bob Hoskins, Phil Collins, Jack Angel, Jim Cummings, Danny Mann, and Robbie Rist in Balto chien-loup, héros des neiges (1995)
Based on the same real-life story that inspired the 1995 animated feature “Balto” and Disney’s forthcoming “Togo”, “The Great Alaskan Race” promises at the very least to be a satisfying movie for dog lovers. What else could one expect, as its poster consists of a husky’s face in giant closeup? Unfortunately, it turns out that very least is still too much to ask for from this handsome but hokey drama, which barely seems to notice its canine players amid a focus on one-dimensional humans.

Chief among them is writer-director-producer-star Brian Presley (best known for TV soap “Port Charles”), playing the man who successfully delivered serum to Nome with his dog team during a 1925 diphtheria epidemic — a near-miraculous run still commemorated annually by the Iditarod Trail competition. That triumph over extremely adverse conditions should make for an exciting physical adventure.

Bound to seem rather tedious to children, while most adults...

Official Trailer for 'Great Alaskan Race' About the Original Serum Run
"You are choosing to transport this serum with a stone age solution!" "Have a little faith, will you?" P12 Films has debuted the first official trailer for a family adventure movie titled The Great Alaskan Race, made by writer / director Brian Presley. The movie is a recreation and retelling of the true story of the great serum run of Alaska in 1925. This original "race" across Alaska later became the iconic Iditarod trail sled dog race, still held every year. The legendary serum run originally occurred in the winter of 1924 to 1925 - Leonhard Seppala and his team of sled dogs traveled over 700 treacherous miles to save the small town of Nome from a deadly diphtheria outbreak. The Great Alaskan Race stars Brian Presley, Brad Leland, Treat Williams, Henry Thomas, Brea Bree, and Bruce Davison. Along with a bunch of cuddly dogs. The dialogue in this trailer is atrocious, but at least...

Haunting of Hill House Season 2 Cast and Details
Joseph Baxter Alec Bojalad Aug 30, 2019

Netflix renewed The Haunting of Hill House for Season 2, set to showcase a new story, titled The Haunting of Bly Manor.

While Netflix does not release viewership information regarding their original content, it's not hard to imagine that its October 2018-premiered original horror series, The Haunting of Hill House, was a massive success, based on fan reaction alone. However, we no longer need to imagine, since the streaming giant has confirmed that a second season is on the way, with Season 2 set to manifest as The Haunting of Bly Manor.

Since the anthological structure of the Hill House series was already known at the outset (and Season 1's definitive conclusion), it should come as no surprise that the second season, The Haunting of Bly Manor, will showcase the exploits of new characters in a new story. Indeed, the name-drop of Bly Manor reveals the story as Henry James’s 1898 novella,...
