Real drama about the problems of addiction

Michael Scarnati's film "Addicted" is a piece of intriguing film that never leaves the viewer at peace. As someone with my own personal demons related with the story I could easily identify with the lead characters. Here's a father trying to connect with his young son thinking he's an addict and needs help. But truth is that the father is also an addict - it always takes one to know each others behavior and patterns. But can they find ways to help each other when both hide themselves and make little of their use of substance or just deny it? We know their realities so well and we keep figuring out when the help will come...

I liked the lack of dialogue, the images are more powerful than that; also like the realism brought to the screen between father and son (the distance, the forced small talks, the hidden bottle in the early scene and the needle with the boy). It feels authentic this lack of contact or how the father always seems to be walking on eggs when dealing with the young man. I was just hoping for a certain justification from both sides on why they're addicts since their lives seem far too structured for such to happen - however it's pointless for me to make such assumption or either think about reasonings. It's the X factor that many families deal on a daily basis. Hard to understand.

It's a good drama with interesting conflicts, sad outcomes and brilliantly well-acted by the duo. 8/10
