Twenty Questions

This film likely wouldn't have gotten any attention if released at the time it was made (1987). Today, it's a fascinating commentary of time gone by. The personalities, the clothes, the hair, the attitudes, the social norms at the time all make for a worthy look. Gorman ("I don't remember") Bechard's film can be found as a DVD extra on the fascinating, priceless DISCONNECTED disc.

Twenty Questions (2017)

This Gorman Bechard documentary was made back in the 1980s but it never got a release until 2017 when it was found by Vinegar Syndrome and released with the director's DISCONNECT. This film here basically has a pretty simple concept as a group of people are put into a room where there are twenty cards on a table. They pick up a card and answer the question that is on it. These questions range from the saddest moment in their lives to their opinions on certain kinds of sex.

TWENTY QUESTIONS was a rather interesting film that managed to keep me entertained throughout its 57-minute running time. If you're familiar with the director then you probably know him for PSYCHOS IN LOVE but one shouldn't expect something like that out of this film. No, instead this is a pretty straight-forward documentary that also works as a rather interesting social experiment. These people come from various backgrounds and it's interesting getting to hear their opinions on these subjects.

Of course, it would be interesting to see the director do a remake of this with the various political and social issues that are raging on right now. TWENTY QUESTIONS really does a nice job at setting up a simple concept and making one think.
