Collisions (2018)
Twelve-year-old Itan's promising life in San Francisco is turned upside down when she comes home from school, with her younger brother, to find her mother missing. Suddenly she must rely on her estranged uncle, a big rig truck driver.

Featuring an esteemed cast which includes Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera), who "exudes charisma" (Salon), Izabella Alvarez (Westworld), who "commands each desperation-ridden scene ... a remarkable turn." (LA Times) and Ana de la Reguera (Narcos, Nacho Libre), who "proves a haunting presence" (AWFJ Women On Film), COLLISIONS has earned thirteen film festival awards, including the Audience Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival. This "sensitively portrayed, moving story" (San Francisco Examiner) reveals the devastating impact of U.S. immigration policy on one family.

Thought provoking film about broken immigration system

Collisions is a thought-provoking film about our troubled immigration system. Many here don't realized that those of us who aren't descendants of slaves, are descendants of people fleeing other lands hundreds of years ago for reasons of violence or persecution in search of a better life. This story shows the difficult journey that many face today for the same reasons. Beautiful and natural acting, great and stark images contribute to a story that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. A must-see.

    A heart-wrenching immigration story

Heart-wrenching? Yes. True to reality? Perhaps. I don't like the idea of separating parents and children, ever, but ...

I was raised with the understanding that rules have consequences, either good or bad. If you follow the rules the consequences are positive. If you break the rules the consequences are ultimately negative, as seen in Collisions.

This movie seems to have a bent toward the leftist side of the political arena and attack President Donald Trump and his policies. But I can't help but think that if Evencio could be in the United States and have his green card, then why not his sister Yoana? If someone doesn't follow the rules to legally be a resident of the US then the consequences are usually dire as this movie portrayed.

Regardless of which side a person stands regarding immigration, I think this movie is a must see.

    Timely, poignant film...

This is a wonderful character-driven film that is timely, heartbreaking, redemptive, and important. COLLISIONS was made a few years ago, before the awful immigration policies of the U.S. government went full-on nuclear toward our southern neighbors. Ahead of its time, it shows the big picture of what's going on with our border wars with a fairly simple story of a loving, broken, and displaced Mexican family going through a harrowing experience that threatens their survival as a unit. I just found out that the young actress, Izabella Alvarez, won the Imagen Award for her key role in it. That's what reminded me of the film, and the reason to post this review. Do yourself a favor, and check out not just her moving performance, but a a great indie flick, as well!

    Its ok

Its very sad for the people involved but usa is entitled to set and enforce whatever border laws it wants. Not sure the point of the movie other than to show the struggle people go through but it didnt show anything new. Its fairly low budget, well acted and a perfect length. I dont live in Usa but wonder should there be more focus on the countries these people are are coming from rather than where they are trying to go.

Our Children are the future of this Nation.

A realistic view of the conditions large number of young people are experiencing today. through no fault of their own.
