Nick Frost is a major part of "Shaun of the Dead" which is, without question, one of the greatest horror-comedy films in history. Filming has begun on Starz’s Outlander prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood which dives into the lives of Jamie’s parents, Ellen and Brian, and Claire’s parents, Julia and Henry. The network’s start of production announcement confirmed Harriet Slater (Pennyworth) will star as Ellen and Jamie Roy (Condor’s Nest) is playing Brian. Hermione Corfield (The Road Dance) is on board as Julia and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) stars as Henry.

“We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples. British actor, Simon Pegg and Oscar winner J.K Simmons have signed up to star in the new heist comedy thriller ‘My Only Sunshine’.

The feature will be directed by Mark Palansky from a script by J.T. Petty and K. Reed Petty. No distributor is yet attached but sales for the film is expected to commence at next month’s Toronto Film Festival.

The story will revolve around a passionately dysfunctional couple who orchestrate a bank robbery as an unconventional act of bloodthirsty marriage counselling. Post-apocalyptic thriller “School’s Out Forever” will be first out of the gate, shooting there and on location, followed by several projects based on Rebellion’s comic book and publishing shared worlds, including a new Judge Dredd project and Duncan Jones’ Rogue Trooper project.

“School’s Out Forever” is based on a book in Rebellion’s Afterblight Chronicles, a shared world that features contributions from various authors and hails from Rebellion’s Abaddon Books imprint. In addition to co-starring in Edgar Wright's "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are continuing to bring genre stories to life on the big screen at their Stolen Picture production company, which has just sold a horror film pitch for a film called Svalta to Orion Pictures.

Deadline reports that Orion Pictures has picked up Svalta, a horror movie pitch from Stolen Picture about "a family on their summer vacation to a remote Swedish island [named Svalta] where they discover a serial killer is on the loose, but the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family of tourists."

In addition to producing Svalta alongside Pegg and Stolen Picture CEO Miles Ketley, Frost will also co-write the screenplay with James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders, who are creative directors at Stolen Picture, with Dan Kagan overseeing the project for Orion Pictures.

Slaughterhouse Rulez, directed by Crispian Mills, is the first produced joint venture between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s production company Stolen Picture. The two also star in this campy comedy flick that is mash-up of Edgar Wright’s beloved British comedy Shaun of the Dead and Neil Marshall’s cult-classic underground monster movie Dog Soldiers, released in 2004 and 2002 respectively. However, Slaughterhouse Rulez feels more of a hollow homage of sorts – a thinly veiled layer of both horror and comedy that is sadly entirely derivative of any and all of Edgar Wright’s filmography, albeit with a decent screenplay and character craft.

The performances are undoubtedly the key highlight of this production.

British monster horror comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez, starring Shaun of the Dead's Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is getting a UK Blu-ray release on March 11, 2019.

The film is directed by Crispian Mills who worked with Pegg on A Fantastic Fear of Everything.

Exclusive: John Boyega will executive produce South African crime-thriller God Is Good, which is being described by producers as in the vein of Prisoners and City Of God. The Star Wars and Pacific Rim star is also launching a record label, UpperRoom Records, which will oversee the film’s soundtrack.

God Is Good is being produced by fledgling UK production label Bandit Country, headed by former Sony International producer Josephine Rose (Slaughterhouse Rulez). Set in Cape Town’s Cape Flats, the English-language film will follow a reformed gangster-turned-pastor and a volatile detective who cross paths after an act of brutal violence sets them on collision course with a heinous gang lieutenant. Casting discussions are under way with shoot planned for spring of this year.

The film is written and to be directed by first-time South African feature filmmaker Willem Grobler, a former Ifp Film Week Alumnus whose shorts have played at festivals including Clermont-Ferrand.

The actor is in serious awards contention for his role in “Black Panther,” but also most recently starred in “Creed II,” “Fahrenheit 451” and “Kin.”

Wilson is now just making the rounds as King Orm in James Wan’s “Aquaman,” but the actor also starred in “Insidious: The Last Key,” “”The Commuter,” “The Nun,” “Nightmare Cinema” and he is currently filming the Untitled “Annabelle” film.

Sony Pictures International Productions and Film4 have wrapped production on Michael Winterbottom (The Killer Inside Me) comedy Greed, starring Steve Coogan, Isla Fisher and David Mitchell.

Also starring are Sophie Cookson, Shirley Henderson, Asa Butterfield, Sarah Solemani, Shanina Shaik, Dinita Gohil, Asim Chaudhry, Pearl Mackie, Jonny Sweet, Ollie Locke and Stephen Fry. Sony has also released some fun first-look images.

Kate Mara and Simon Pegg are in negotiations to star in the independent thriller “Inheritance” with British director Vaughn Stein attached.

The film explores what happens when the patriarch of a wealthy and powerful family suddenly passes away, leaving his wife and daughter with a shocking secret inheritance that threatens to unravel and destroy their lives.

Highland Film Group launched foreign sales at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, Calif. this week. UTA and Highland Film Group are co-repping the U.S. rights.

Matthew Kennedy wrote the script, and Richard B. Lewis is producing through his Southpaw Entertainment banner alongside David Wulf of WulfPak Productions, and Convergent Media’s Dan Reardon and Santosh Govindaraju.

“Inheritance” is Highland’s second collaboration with Stein; it previously partnered on his debut film “Terminal,” which was released earlier this year.

Elite boarding schools have been a favourite microcosm for film-makers to explore over the years: as the crucible of revolution in If…., the breeding ground of spies in Another Country, and the vessel of intellectual liberation in Dead Poets Society. Despite one or two nods and winks (including a picture of If….’s Malcolm McDowell getting plugged in the face with an airgun pellet), this watchable if basically undemanding jape opts to take a very different tack: a teen comedy-horror with little aspiration to make any bigger points other than to chase its group of shrieking and bellowing schoolkids around an educational establishment’s venerable passageways and adjacent woodland.

This month, British cinema audiences will have the privilege of seeing the iconic filmmaking duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite once again. Known for their work on Shaun of the Dead among other films, Slaughterhouse Rulez will be bringing the two back into the genre where they caught their break. Just weeks away from its big screen debut, Sony UK has released an all new video promo, giving fans a good peek at two of the film's lead actors. You can take a look at it below.

As the title of the film suggests, the story takes place in a boarding school which is seriously known as Slaughterhouse School. The building will earn its name soon enough, after major problems arise when a nearby fracking site accidentally opens up a sinkhole in the ground. Bloodthirsty creature emerge from the pit, descending upon Slaughterhouse School and attacking everyone inside.

Exclusive: John Boyega will executive produce UK fantasy horror A Spriggan from writer-director Keir Burrows (Anti Matter) and producer Josephine Rose (Slaughterhouse Rulez) of new outfit Bandit Country.

The Star Wars actor joins via his Upper Room Productions banner, through which he recently co-produced Pacific Rim: Uprising, alongside Legendary Pictures.

Currently out to cast, creature feature A Spriggan follows a recently widowed mother who returns to her father’s isolated hotel only to find a sinister folklore presence haunting the land. The impressive crew includes two-time Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Neil Corbould and his company Neil Corbould Special Effects, which is handling special effects and creating the creature. Courbould is well known for his work on movies including Rogue One, Gravity and Gladiator. Production designer is Amanda McArthur (How To Build A Girl) and director of photography will be Burrows’ regular collaborator Gerry Vasbenter (Anti Matter).
