This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" season 1, episode 2.
Everything can seem dangerous when you're a kid lost in space, and the pirate droid Sm-33 makes no exceptions. "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" certainly takes care to frame him as a potential threat. When the clunky, partially malfunctioning robot with an alien critter residing in its empty eye socket regains power and shuffles into the frame, you'd be forgiven for thinking you've accidentally tuned in to a space-themed horror movie and witnessing the main antagonist.
Fortunately, Sm-33 -- a not-so-subtle nod to Mr. Smee from "Peter Pan," no doubt -- is firmly on the main characters' side, at least after one of the show's young heroes, Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), convinces him that she's killed the former captain of the Onyx Cinder and taken charge. Though old and decrepit, he proves to be a useful (if unnerving) ally who...

Beyond straightforward comedy, Frost has also starred in more horror-driven fare, including Slaughterhouse Rulez and Truth Seekers, the latter of which he co-created with Pegg.

Nick Frost writes and stars in the horror comedy Get Away. Here’s the trailer for the film once known as Svalta.
Nick Frost both writes and stars in the folk horror comedy Get Away – a movie originally going by the name Svalta. The synopsis reads as follows:
Looking forward to a vacation on the small Swedish island of Svälta, the Smith family is unsettled by the unfriendly mainlanders who advise them to avoid the island at all costs, especially during the Karantan festival. But the 4-member family is in deep need of some time away & stubbornly decides to take the ferry anyway. On the island, the locals are rather rude & unwelcoming, and their behavior suggests that some big event is about to happen. Is it a cult? Is there a sacrifice in the works? Seemingly unbothered by so much discourtesy and drama, the family enjoys a swim in the sea,...

Nick Frost is a major part of "Shaun of the Dead" which is, without question, one of the greatest horror-comedy films in history. While we impatiently await Frost's reunion with director Edgar Wright and co-star Simon Pegg, it should delight viewers to know that he is back in the genre with "Get Away." It should also delight you, dear reader, to know that the movie is a great deal of fun -- but it all relies on avoiding spoilers. You've been warned.
I recently had the good fortune of seeing the film at this year's Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. While I can't rightfully say it was the best movie I saw at the Fest this year -- that honor goes to "The Wild Robot" -- it is the one that gave me the biggest "i didn't see that coming" moment, which left me grinning and chuckling in delight.

Leave it to the Dutch to bring us a truly bonkers satirical take on 90s sitcoms that turns into a nightmare for Shaun of the Deads Nick Frost and his bumbling family. Thats the premise behind the new horror-comedy Krazy House, which is slated to be available on all VOD platforms beginning October 4, and also stars Alicia Silverstone and Kevin Connolly.
Directed by Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil, Krazy House tells the tale of an ordinary Jesus-loving American family taken hostage by the Russian workers they hired to fix up their home. The bloody new trailer showcases the movies meta take on sitcoms from a bygone era, complete with a laugh track and live studio audience. As the Russians dismantle their home board-by-board, Bernard (Nick Frost) grows increasingly frustrated until he finally snaps and decides hes not going to take it anymore. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost shine in genre-bending dramedies beyond the famous Cornetto trilogy. Collaborative efforts with Edgar Wright are just the beginning of their timeless comedy legacy. Underrated gems like Slaughterhouse Rulez and The Adventures of Tintin showcase their versatility.
The best Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movies and series are typically brilliant combinations of comedy, drama, and several other genres/sub-genres. This formula was made famous by director Edgar Wright, who collaborated with Frost and Pegg in the Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy. All three famously worked together on the genre-mashing dramedies, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End.
However, Pegg and Frost's Edgar Wright movies aren't the only collaborations that deserve a spot in anyone's weekend movies playlist. Fueled by their well-publicized but deeply genuine friendship, Pegg and Frost's collaborative efforts are products of a long and creative partnership that goes way beyond the Cornetto trilogy.

The 28th edition of the Raindance Film Festival will close with the U.K. premiere of “Here Are The Young men,” directed by Eoin Macken (“Cold”).
The film is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Rob Doyle, who co-wrote the screenplay with Macken. It follows three Dublin teenagers who leave school to a social vacuum of drinking and drugs, and fall into acts of transgression. It stars Dean-Charles Chapman (“1917”), Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Witch”), Finn Cole (“Slaughterhouse Rulez”), and Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (“Sing Street”).
The film previously played at the Galway Film Fleadh, where it won the Bingham Ray New Talent Award for co-producer Edwina Casey, and at the Giffoni Film Festival, where it was in official competition.
Macken will attend the premiere at London’s Vue West End cinema and participate in a Q&a. The venue will have reduced audience capacity in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines,...

Amazon have released the first trailer for Truth Seekers, a brand new comedy series starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The show follows “a team of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the U.K., sharing their adventures on an online channel for all to see.” How very meta. You can check out the preview in question above, which also features co-stars Susan Wokoma and Malcolm McDowell as fellow ghost hunters.
Along with the trailer, which arrived as part of a Comic-Con@Home panel, the studio also released a batch of promotional photos that give us a closer look at the show’s characters. Seen in the gallery down below, the one thing that stands out to me is Simon Pegg’s ghastly wig. There’s bad wigs and then there’s bad wigs. This is the latter. Good grief. It remains to...

They are happy to trash movies from the comfort of their typewriters, but what happens when critics put their money where their mouth is?
It was at the London premiere of Shakespeare in Love in 1999 that Henry Fitzherbert decided to seize his chance and make the leap from film reviewer of the Sunday Express to Hollywood screenwriter. Buttonholing the movie’s producer, Harvey Weinstein, he pitched him an adaptation he had written of Stephen Benatar’s amnesia thriller Recovery. “He told me to get it to his hotel suite by 6am and he’d read it on the plane home,” Fitzherbert recalls. “Then I got a call from his New York office saying he loved it and I thought: ‘I’m going to be an overnight success!’ I was summoned to a meeting with his senior exec in London, given ‘notes’, which I worked on for months – and never heard from any of them again.

Madrid — Four years in the making, Agustí Villaronga’s “Born a King,” starring Ed Skrein (“Deadpool”) and Hermione Cornfield (“Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”) and produced by Andrés Vicente Gómez, has caught box office fire in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Released wide on Sept. 26, the true events-based historical drama – framing the coming of age of Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia, against the background of a diplomatic mission he led to London in 1919 at the tender age of 13 – has earned an exceptional first-four-day $972, 962 in UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, according to figures from its distributor, Dubai’s-based Vox Film Distribution.
The lion’s share of that was made in UAE, where it grossed $547,725.
However execrating for an independent film, the results are not totally surprising. “Born a King” is a Spain-u.K. production, whose producers, director and crew pack huge experience: Gómez, producer of Fernando Trueba’s...

The Cornetto Trilogy finished many years ago, but that apparently won’t stop the stars from continuing to reunite. That’s right, folks: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are teaming up yet again and this time, they aim to tackle another supernatural foe in the form of ghosts. Ahhh!
The new show, called Truth Seekers, has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video this week, with production set to kick off in September. The duo have been developing the series for quite a while now, so this is certainly wonderful news to all.
From what we understand, the project will feature Frost and Pegg as Gus and Dave, two ghost hunters who stalk across the creepiest parts of the UK looking for any evidence of a spook, spectre or ghost. Truth Seekers is being billed as a horror-comedy, and the show seems to be set up for more of a monster-of-the-week type of thing,...

In addition to co-starring in Edgar Wright's "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are continuing to bring genre stories to life on the big screen at their Stolen Picture production company, which has just sold a horror film pitch for a film called Svalta to Orion Pictures.
Deadline reports that Orion Pictures has picked up Svalta, a horror movie pitch from Stolen Picture about "a family on their summer vacation to a remote Swedish island [named Svalta] where they discover a serial killer is on the loose, but the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family of tourists."
In addition to producing Svalta alongside Pegg and Stolen Picture CEO Miles Ketley, Frost will also co-write the screenplay with James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders, who are creative directors at Stolen Picture, with Dan Kagan overseeing the project for Orion Pictures.

Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, the beloved duo from Shaun of the Dead, are reuniting once more, this time behind the scenes, for a new original horror movie. Frost and Pegg launched their own production company, Stolen Picture, back in 2016 so that they could continue to work with one another and develop projects outside of the major Hollywood movies they find themselves in. This time, they're going to be terrorizing a family with a serial killer in Svalta.
According to a new report, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, along with Miles Ketley, have closed a deal with Orion Pictures for Svalta. Orion purchased the pitch and now Frost, along with James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders, who serve as creative directors at Stolen Picture, will pen the screenplay. Stars: Finn Cole, Asa Butterfield, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Michael Sheen, Margot Robbie, Hermione Corfield, Jo Hartley, Jamie Blackley, Isabella Laughland, Tom Rhys Harries, Kit Connor, Hanako Footman, Jane Stanness | Written by Crispian Mills, Henry Fitzherbert | Directed by Crispian Mills
Slaughterhouse Rulez, directed by Crispian Mills, is the first produced joint venture between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s production company Stolen Picture. The two also star in this campy comedy flick that is mash-up of Edgar Wright’s beloved British comedy Shaun of the Dead and Neil Marshall’s cult-classic underground monster movie Dog Soldiers, released in 2004 and 2002 respectively. However, Slaughterhouse Rulez feels more of a hollow homage of sorts – a thinly veiled layer of both horror and comedy that is sadly entirely derivative of any and all of Edgar Wright’s filmography, albeit with a decent screenplay and character craft.
The performances are undoubtedly the key highlight of this production.

Michael B Jordan
The actor is in serious awards contention for his role in “Black Panther,” but also most recently starred in “Creed II,” “Fahrenheit 451” and “Kin.”
Josh Brolin
We all know Josh Brolin played the villain in both “Deadpool 2” And “Avengers: Infinity War” (which is a feat in itself), but he also starred in “Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado” and “The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter.”
Tessa Thompson
Thompson seems to have been in every movie this year, and that’s for good reason: She starred in “Annihilation” alongside Natalie Portman, as well as “Sorry to Bother You,” “Little Woods,” “Furlough” and “Creed II.”
Patrick Wilson
Wilson is now just making the rounds as King Orm in James Wan’s “Aquaman,” but the actor also starred in “Insidious: The Last Key,” “”The Commuter,” “The Nun,” “Nightmare Cinema” and he is currently filming the Untitled “Annabelle” film.

Simon Pegg and Michael Sheen star in a watchable jape that has plenty of charm but not enough scares
Elite boarding schools have been a favourite microcosm for film-makers to explore over the years: as the crucible of revolution in If…., the breeding ground of spies in Another Country, and the vessel of intellectual liberation in Dead Poets Society. Despite one or two nods and winks (including a picture of If….’s Malcolm McDowell getting plugged in the face with an airgun pellet), this watchable if basically undemanding jape opts to take a very different tack: a teen comedy-horror with little aspiration to make any bigger points other than to chase its group of shrieking and bellowing schoolkids around an educational establishment’s venerable passageways and adjacent woodland.
Strangely enough, the coincidence of the real-world news cycle has given Slaughterhouse Rulez an unlikely topicality: a giant fracking drill in the...
