Shreelancer (2017)
Shree, a Bangalore-based freelance copywriter who is in his mid-20's struggles to cope with the self-doubts about his artistic abilities. Whilst, he continues to work for small-time ad agencies, he is quite frustrated about the fact that the world doesn't understand and give respect to freelancers that they deserve. Unable to concentrate at home, he visits various cafes to find his peace and works from there. Addicted to his cell phone and the social media, Shree's worldview is shaped by what he reads online, not having traveled much in the"real"world. As fate would have it, Shree gets an invitation to attend an all-expenses paid trip to a college friend's wedding, which changes his life forever. Shreelancer is a contemporary take on the life of a freelancer in today's time.

    Chronology of a torn heart!!

Was able to catch it on Prime (obviously gems like these are not available on our local jewellery shops, read :cinemas) . Started with moderate expectation, but the build up was quite apt & suits in the portrayal of our generation & the way , they are always torn between their own pursuit of happiness & the societal definition of the pursuit. The fragility of a freelancer belief or rather self-belief is depicted superbly by Arjun Radhakrishnan. The screenplay encompassing different geographies of India , their culture , their dialects & nuances were shown in a very suave manner, thumbs up to Sandeep Mohan for that. The moments between a typical middle class father & his "artsy" confused son were very realistic & true in nature. Give this a shot, trust me , by the end it will leave you with a smile & peace for a while.

    Molecule Review: Shreelancer (7 Stars)

As a freelancer myself I could relate very well with Shreelancer where a freelancing copywriter in his mid-20s experiences a crisis after he travels for the first time out of his hometown that ends up changing his lifestyle as well as the decisions he takes later in life. More than anything, this drama is inspirational, showing what sticking to one's skills and plans can do in life. Lead actor Arjun Radhakrishnan excels in his performance as this ignorant writer who has never seen himself as an artist who plays with words but rather as a mere contractor who works for others and then fails to get payments from them. The little peculiar things that freelancers face in the real world - whether it is about payment or numerous edits or about creativity - are spot-on in Shreelancer. Radhakrishnan's air throughout the film is splendid, giving enough idea about freelancers and the way they behave, as far as my experience is concerned. Although the film goes haywire in the middle as Arjun lands somewhere outside Delhi, and needed some polishing as far as editing and camera work are concerned, it soon picks up, ending with a note that will only compel you to follow your dreams and just make more memories while you're alive. I love how the film also advocates tourism in India as opposed to foreign travel. An extra star for that. TN.

Authentic, heartwarming, independent in letter and spirit

Shreepad (lead) takes us through his life's moments, the emotions that he navigates through and some fresh new experiences that totally change his outlook...whether masti with friends or danger in unknown lands, he goes through a rollercoaster ride that ends up making him see life differently...

It also reminds me about the power of travelling in opening up one's mind, do I hear the hills and the river caling?!

The music is fresh and lifts up the mood.

Highly recommend watching Shreelancer by clearing some mental space to enjoy this genuine story with some laughs along the way. I had a great time watching it!

A Heartwarming movie for the holidays

Just finished watching it on Amazon prime India. It's a really honest movie which reinforces many stereotypes, but it's refreshing nonetheless. I wish they had some more depth in the different characters, would have loved to get to know the characters a little more. Felt like some sub-plots were left hanging without a logical end. Some good dialogues in here and the way some scenes turned out were really unexpected. Overall the movie is laser focused on the main character Shree. A bit sombre but still, very enjoyable to watch
