This was one of the movies I was most looking forward to at our local international film festival. But it disappointed. It went the route of being quirky for quirky's sake, rather than build up three dimensional characters. (This has been a growing problem with a segment of recent Scandinavian comedies, unfortunately.)
Minor note. The story turns out to be based on a real case, and at the end of the movie, they showed pictures of the actors next to pictures of the characters -- period pictures when they had them. It was impressive how hard the filmmatkers worked to match the looks of the real characters.

This movie is completely mindblowing. Swedish movie culture is most often depressingly bad, but this movie is created with a sence of hollywood quality, without losing the essence of a small swedish society.
Growing up in a small village in Sweden myself, I can really say that this is true to life. It's a fascinating culture, with people doing such dumb stuff all the time and becoming local celebrities for it.
I've watched this movie about 5 or 6 times already, and it still brings me to tears each time.

In the first part, it seems unrealistic, improvised and just boring. The second half gives the touching moral lesson. Not an impressive film but just a nice one. About fame - not the good one- , about a town and about a man too easz to define him as looser. And his idea, changing more. Simple and touching. That is all.
Film based from the book with the same name. A true (tragic) lifestory of Hasse P. Good acting by Persbrandt and Lindström Bolmgren who has the correct swedish accent for the specific area. The film was good but not better than the book. The book has a way better ending a couple of months after the world record which you cannot predict. Also I think the book has more comedy and tons of more details than the film. Overall a good job especially with 80's feel and nostalgia.
A top movie. The book was ok but the movie was faboulos. And I have never seen Helena Bergström so good.
The movie nearly overflows with great acting parts. The best Swedish movie in years.
