The Journeyman

I wish i could call it a B movie. It was more like a D movie. Everyrthing was weird, pshycadelic, abstract, with music playing over the script and overshadowing the speech. The scenes seemed as if they were spliced together... After 22 minutes, I decided to stop wasting my time and so I quit watching.

The Journeyman is a great indie movie that explores politics through thrilling action. It takes a topic that would otherwise be complicated or hard to follow and makes it interesting and exciting. The film follows freelance corporate spy Lawrence, played by director Peter Babakitis, and underground activist Ariana (Krystal Langevin) as they uncover an enormous banking fraud scheme in the Eurozone. Intent on Lawrence and Ariana keeping the truth from the public, antagonist Waldenstein (Brian Narelle) sends characters out for the lives of the duo. A bank fraud suddenly becomes life or death for Lawrence and Ariana. The opening scenes in particular hooked me in almost instantaneously, and the main character is well-written and acted by Babakitis. Even the opening credits are very well-done and impressive. The film makes good use of its budget, and it was fast-paced and thrilling. Beyond the action, it explores what it means to be an activist. When one should step aside, or try and make a difference. When is the time to put oneself at risk for the greater good? Lawrence is challenged with these notions from the very beginning of the film. Whether or not he discovers the answers... I'll let you find out on your own. I highly recommend this film to anyone wanting to check out something fresh and engaging.
