The acting was beyond awful. The characters were ALL completely unlikable (even Eric Roberts' character and I am a fan of his - though he hasn't had a decent role in years...).
The only character that earned the teeniest tiniest bit of empathy was the daughter.
The other reviewer must be a rabid fan of the author, because the story was not thought through very well and the characters were just flat out stupid.
This is a tongue in cheek Canadian thriller. Good performances and tension and plenty of twists along the way. I won't say too much else as to not give the plot away. Unpredictable and a decent way to pass the time.
I've been watching a lot of Lifetime movies with my wife recently and we somehow got addicted to Eric Roberts. This was one of those Tubi gems that we were able to stick it out past the first 30 minutes for, and I'm glad we did.
First off, the score during the intro set off a bad tone. It sounded like someone's first attempt in FL Studio, and this carries throughout pretty much the entire movie. Towards the end, I was debating whether this was supposed to be a comedy because of how inappropriate the score and soundtrack were. I was debating knocking a few points off my rating due to just how awful the music was. During the scenes that were supposed to be intense and serious we were dying laughing from it.
Other than that, it's not a bad thriller I guess you would call it. I wouldn't call it a dark comedy, because I'm really sure it wasn't meant to be funny. Shaun Benson is great as always and Eric Roberts plays the same creep I've seen him as in 10 other movies.

As a fairly big Emily Hampshire fan sometimes the movies she has been in are subpar and thats nothing to do with her acting ability, it's the plot or the editing. Actors can only do so much with the material they have. Never saw it coming was unexpectedly good. I really enjoyed it. I had only seen the trailer as I don't like to know to much before watching a film. I thought all the acting was really good, the plot was great, the script was also really good. A thriller with some comedy elements is always a good time to me. I don't know what these other reviewers saw but it definitely wasn't what I saw. An enjoyable watch and a recommended watch from me.
I'm old, been watching movies longer than the average person in the US has been alive. Once in a while I will give a movie a 10. Well I really enjoyed this one. I have no idea what the people who gave it very low scores were smoking. So many twists, that at times I was asking myself: "What the heck? Lets just say not many brains were in use during the making of this move. I would grade it as a collection of stupid people, doing obviously stupid things. It will take the police woman ages to sort it all out. Will I watch it again? Most likely in a few years from now. Did like the ending. Justice was not served.
