A fun trip to China with Wham!

There I was checking out the directorial credits of the great Lindsay Anderson ("O Lucky Man", "If...") and one random credit stood out: this music video for the duo Wham! And also the fact he followed George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley during their trip to China where they performed for a small series of concerts and the tour was also captured by Anderson lenses. By that opening statement one can deduce I'm not much of Wham! Fan, and I went along the ride just to see how it went and when the initial chords appeared I was suddenly reminded about the song but never had paid much attention to its title. So, that was the twist that made me enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would because it was a familiar song, one of those you hear somewhere but doesn't necessarily stays with you for too long. At least that's my experience.

Here's Wham! Trip evidenced in this video where the duo are well received by the Chinese people, you get the real feeling of warm welcome they got from the crowd, all very enthusiastic to see their performance on stage and just goes to show how popular they were back in the day.

Basically, all colorful images with Michael and Ridgeley taking pictures on the Great Wall, having fun with the band mates, a very large troupe and all. And we have a really happy song talking about freedom (kinda ironic considering the kind of freedom people China actually have). But the tour and the single were a hit, even though it didn't chart over here but somehow I end up knowing about the song. It's fun. 7/10.
