Although it holds a lowly 26% Rotten Tomatoes rating and a 3.6 IMDb score, the film shows a much different side of Lutz than fans of the Twilight series are used to seeing him when he played Emmett Cullen from 2008 to 2012.

Due Justice is a vicious revenge thriller that, despite its formulaic familiarity, has performed much better on the streaming platform than it did in a limited theatrical release. For Lutz, it will be interesting to see if the movie's newfound popularity will lead to new acting opportunities or if the low ratings will hinder his future projects.

Saban Films has acquired the rights to the action thriller “American Metal,” starring John Travolta and Stephen Dorff.

The film, written by Nicholas Maggio, tells the story of a desperate and struggling family man who robs a pill mill. But when the theft turns violent, he finds himself hunted by both the police and the Dixieland mafia.

This is also Maggio’s directorial debut. In addition to Travolta and Dorff, “American Metal” also stars Shiloh Fernandez, Ashley Benson and Kevin Dillon.

“American Metal” is produced by 308 Entertainment’s Corey Large and Bernie Gewissler in association with Bondit Media Capital. rincipal photography recently wrapped on the film in Georgia. Saban Films is planning a 2023 release.

This is the second film with Travolta and Dorff for 308 Entertainment’s Large, following the upcoming release of “Paradise City.” That film also stars Bruce Willis.

Saban Films has taken global rights to the John Travolta and Stephen Dorff feature, American Metal.

Writer and first-time feature director Nicholas Maggio’s film tells the story of a desperate and struggling family man who robs a pill mill. The pic was produced by 308 Entertainment’s Corey Large and Bernie Gewissler in association with Bondit Media Capital.

The feature reps the second film with Travolta and Dorff for 308 Entertainment’s Large, following the upcoming Saban release Paradise City.

Travolta received two Best Actor Oscar nominations for 1977’s Saturday Night Fever and 1994’s Pulp Fiction.

Exclusive: Twilight and FBI: Most Wanted actor Kellan Lutz has been set to star in thriller Palido, which LA-based sales firm Premiere Entertainment Group will be selling at the Cannes market.

Lutz will play an attorney with a military past who hunts down the gang that killed his wife and brother and took his daughter. Javier Reyna (Regionrat) is directing from his original screenplay.

The crime thriller is due to start principal photography on July 11 in the state of Washington. Additional casting is underway.

Elias Axume is producing for Premiere Entertainment, which handles worldwide sales, with Moctesuma Esparza (Selena), and Al Bravo for Al Bravo Films. Premiere’s Carlos Rincon serves as executive producer.

“We are excited to have Kellan on board the film,” said Premiere CEO Elias Axume. “He’s a dynamic actor with wide range that elevates any film to the next level.”

This marks yet another rung down on John Travolta’s ladder of career ignominy after his most recent flops, Gotti and Speed Kills. It’s a grotesque drama in which Travolta plays a disturbed fan. It would be risible if it weren’t so offensive, mean-spirited and, frankly, nasty. Sporting a pudding-bowl haircut, too-small bike helmet and deploying an overdone shuffling gait, Travolta stars as Moose, an isolated obsessive living on the fringes of Los Angeles’ celebrity culture. At night, he busks for a living on Hollywood Boulevard – in costume as a British bobby (complete with Dick Van Dyke-style accent). The aim is to get enough scratch to fund his collection of movie memorabilia, a good chunk of which is devoted to his hero, one-time C-list...

As if to apologetically clear the cinematic air for Miami, “cigarette” power boats, and art in general after the atrocity of 2018’s John Travolta vehicle “Speed Kills,” “Omniboat” applies a brisk scrub of cleansing absurdism to the same locational and vehicular themes. This de facto compilation feature by a dozen-plus writer-directors, commissioned by that city’s indie filmmaking collective the Borscht Corporation, is an exquisite-corpse narrative depicting the rocky times of one 47-foot Top Gun speedboat. It’s an inspired goof — for a while, before it turns into waaaaaay too much of a good thing.

As the anarchic randomness ceases to delight and morphs into a viewer endurance test, it becomes clear this “Fast Boat Fantasia” would have been better digested as a series of webisodes, rather than in one eventually wearying two-hour feature. Still, it’s an adventurous experiment with some great bits, and might yet achieve the cult...

Prominently placed at the start of a very long final credit crawl is what may go down in motion picture history as one of the most misguided displays of somber self-congratulation ever: “John Travolta Is Moose. ‘The Fanatic.’ A Fred Durst Film.” Given that this is a movie that starts with an onscreen-text quote from its own bad dialogue, the clueless hubris is no longer surprising by that point. For starters, it is the worst Travolta vehicle in some time, and coming just a year after the double whammy of “Gotti” and “Speed Kills,” that is really saying something. You might think anything would be an improvement after “Gotti.” Yet the new “Speed Kills” not only isn’t appreciably better, it’s also bad in much the same way: another cliché-riddled portrait of an underworld-tied figure the movie seems to celebrate as one ballsy Sob, though viewers may find his personality warrants more fumigation than admiration.

Prashant Shah, formerly VP and head of production at Benaroya Pictures and a veteran Hollywood and Mumbai producer, has launched Bollywood Hollywood Production. The fully financed media company will focus on the acquisition, development and production of feature films in both the Hindi and English language, aimed at worldwide audiences. At launch, the company has in the works more than a half-dozen movies over the next two years with budgets between $5 million-$50 million.

The first in the pipeline is Jungle Cry, an inspirational sports film that tells the true story of Achutya Samanta, who lost his father at age 4 and India and today provides food, housing, clothing and education to more than 27,000 tribal children in India. NCIS alum Jennifer Esposito has been cast in a key role on Amazon’s straight-to-series superhero drama The Boys.

Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Darick Robertson and created by Supernatural creator and Timeless co-creator Eric Kripke, The Boys is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame. It revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the Boys” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. Preacher‘s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen are set to direct.

Esposito will appear in five episodes this season as CIA Agent Susan Raynor.

She joins previously cast Tomer Capon, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jesse T. Usher, Karen Fukuhara and Nathan Mitchell.

As you know, the actor has made a string of terrible films in recent years and this upcoming Vr project that he worked on, Speed Kills, looks like one of the most ridiculous. It's like Travolta has just given up on making good movies! Remember, this is a two-time Oscar-nominated actor making these crappy films! I guess John Travolta is having fun making bad movies?

The project is both a film and Vr series experience and it's based on a true story set in Miami in the 1980s. Travolta plays a speedboat racing champion who ends up getting caught up with the mob and when he's not able to keep promises that he made, things take a turn for the worse. The boat he cruises around in has a "007" graphic slapped on the side of it.

Famke Janssen and Robert Patrick have joined John Travolta and Morgan Freeman in the crime thriller “The Poison Rose,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Janssen will play Travolta’s love interest in the film. Former high school sweethearts, the two rekindle their romance when she hires him to investigate a murder. Travolta will play a private investigator who enjoys his share of drinking, smoking, and gambling, as well as women in distress.

George Gallo will direct from a script he wrote with Richard Salvatore, based on Salvatore’s novel of the same name. Salvatore will produce through his March on Productions with Jeff Elliott (“Imperium”), Oscar Generale (“Speed Kills”), and David Ornston. Sales launched earlier this year at the European Film Market with BondIt Media Capital and Sherborne Media Capital providing financing for the picture.

Janssen is best known as Jean Grey in the “X-Men” franchise and has starred in the “Taken” trilogy opposite Liam Neeson.

Toby Davies and Mark Haskell Smith adapted the novel by Haskell Smith about an aging rock star whose supermodel wife is kidnapped on vacation in Chile.

The pampered superstar must drawn on untested resources as he follows the trail through the back alleys of Santiago and jungles of South America.

West and Jib Polhemus produced through Simon West Productions banner alongside Harry Stourton.

Saban will release Gun Shy theatrically in select cities on September 8. Ness Saban and Bill Bromiley negotiated the deal with the film’s London-based worldwide sales agent Carnaby International.

UK distributor Signature Entertainment has snapped up a raft of Us and international titles including Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista action-thriller Escape Plan 2: Hades from Highland.

The sequel to the 2013 Arnie/Stallone action title, which grossed $140m worldwide, is currently in production and set for release in 2018.

In Hades, Stallone’s character Ray Breslin is called on to organize another for-hire security force but when one of his team, the wing chun master Shu (Xiaoming Huang), goes missing – inside a computerized techno-terror battle-maze known as Haze, where human combatants brawl like beasts – Breslin goes back into the secret lock-up to save his friend.

Bautista co-stars as a deadly acquaintance of Breslin’s alongside Jaime King, Jesse Metcalfe and 50 Cent.

Amazon’s small screen streaming lineup is set to add a live-action adaptation of Garth Ennis’s notoriously dark and violent comic book, The Boys. The television project, which has been in development on and off for several years, has finally received its long-awaited greenlight, auspiciously arriving as the creation of Supernatural and Timeless visionary Eric Kripke.

The Boys has an eight-episode order from Amazon, with Kripke serving as showrunner/executive producer, adapting the 2006-2012 comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
