    Solid Half

If you are too religious stay away from this one.. Not every ones cup of tea.. Solid first half. Unconvincing second half and cliched climax let down the movie.... Fahad and his expressive eyes rules the movie

    Halleluyah

Vinayakan's title theme was the winner as it played on the drive back home.

Scaling was done pretty well all through the movie. The credit goes to Amal Neerad's cinematography, Fahad's performances, the costumes, colors. Grandeur all through.

It is Fahad's one-man show. Starting portion had a "bridge" touch to it.

The movie is pretty focused on it's subject. Was looking to get thrown into different worlds based on the trailer - did not happen. It is a very uni-dimensional movie. Nasriya has been used as trailer material. Nasriya's portion could have been built better from a script perspective.

The movie addresses the social issue in a lock-horn fashion. There is a freshness to the direction style. Jackson Vijayan's songs were good. Sound design was good.

The fact is I had super lofty expectations about the movie - that I will get lost in it's amazing layering. The movie was much simpler than that. On the other hand, it is a lot of movie. The time that the movie took to release shows in how there are hardly any portions that could have been ironed out better. From an execution stand point, it is pretty good.

    Brave Attempt

Anwar Rasheed's Trance written by Vincent Vadakkan tears apart the evalengical centers which is a solid first half. In the second half writer lost the track and movie starts wobbling.

In the days of multiple trailers and teasers the trance didn't reveal much. Well who wants their movie to run into controversies. Then the censorship delays. Fortunately director didn't budge for cuts and went to Mumbai for recertification from Trivandrum.

    Trance - A honest attempt.

A BANG on society's current DRUG

The movie deserves a great applause as a whole. This seems the very first attempt in Malayalam film industry and very proud and daring challenge taken up by Anwar Rashid and his team. .

The religious addiction we have and growing when the science and technology is there to solve health realted issues, we still are being blindfolded with the so called religious Man God is very worrying. And the movie has just helped in how to perceive such MAN GODs we have in every religion is one best thing the movie did. .

For that the Director himself proved that he has chosen right actors and especially Fahad Fasil as the lead. He's something else when his character shifts and clearly standout from every other roles he had done in the past. .

The BGM by Sushin and Jackson Vijayan helped the movie a lot in maintaining the mood of trance along with expertised Cinematography from Amal Neerad. .

Watch it if you want to see where our society IS and where are we ourselves as an individual. .

The only problem with the movie lies in the second half when several characters come and how to deal with each of them. Otherwise. It is just Worth watching.

A psychedelic trip made with love, albeit dragged down by it's sub-par screenplay

Trance has one of the best shot moments in the entirety of malayalam cinema. It's the scene where the film was at it's peak, only to hurdle down a never ending hill. It's not the 'perfect' in the story department, but they blew it apart technically. Every single shot in Trance is otherworldly. In a sense, even if you don't pay attention to the story, your money is gonna be well spent on the visuals alone. Amal Neerad knocked it out of the park with his godly cinematography. It's a masterclass combination is what it is. Amal Neerad-Anwar Rasheed combo was the best thing that happened to malayalam cinema this year. Anwar Rasheed has commandeered a film of a big canvas, he strutted it around long enough for the film to be 'perfect'. In a way, the screenplay dragged down a film that was worthy of becoming a classic in Malayalam cinema.

Fahadh was the limelight and he did his role justice. Viju Prasad/Joshua Calton was brought to life by his best performance in his career (personal opinion). Nazriya felt like an unneeded addition to an already spectacular cast. Soubin, Sreenath Bhasi, Vinayakan were all well utilised although having very limited screen time. Joju George appeared on screen for about 10 seconds and that is that. There was no more of Joju George in the film. I don't think there was even a name for his character. Chemban Vinod was just his persona yet again, a monotonous performance. Gautham Menon did good. Dileesh Pothan stood apart from the secondary characters as he received more screen time and dialogues as Avarachan.

Trance uses heavy display of colours. I couldn't have worded that better. Colours were popping out of nowhere. Don't watch Trance while high. You're just going to be more stoned after the film.

Trance fails hard in connecting the dots and summing up the storylines it started. Nazriya's character arc was pretty much screwed from the beginning. It almost felt that the 2nd half of the film was rushed, although that is not the case.

Trance is something that is going to be landmark in Malayalam cinema. Not because of how good it is, but because how beautiful it is. No malyalam film could compete with Trance in terms of it's visuals.
