The show is trying to do too many genres at once. Crime, thriller, romance, drama, and comedy is too much. While I acknowledge their effort, it just made the show all over the place. Tones changing constantly, it's hard to know what to feel and when. It's like watching two different shows.
Episodes are pretty slow. I genuinely feel like it should have concluded in 16 episodes. The flow would've been nicer and the sequence of events too. I usually finish a 16-episode drama in a few days. This one took me 4 days just to get to episode 7. I keep pausing out of distraction and doing something else. Basically, it's NOT a binge-able series.
However, I enjoyed everyone's acting. While JCW is great, this is one of his inferior roles. His overall performance was good, but something was missing. Female lead was okay, she plays the "unfiltered" quirky girl pretty well. However, the female lead's wardrobe was so bad. I don't think she wore a single appealing piece of clothing, it was awful to witness.
While both actors are good at acting, they simply didn't have the chemistry I thought they would. This feels harsh to say, but they did not look that good together.
The story, in my opinion, would have been much more interesting if they were genuinely and actively searching for the ex-boyfriend's real killer as soon as it happened. Overall, the plot could have used better writing and flow. Would I rewatch this? No. Would I recommend it to someone? Probably not.

The show is fun and light hearted. Sometimes it turns into a cartoon with all the sound effects and slapstick but thankfully it's not over the top with that.
The actors are fun and some of the cases make it seem like a soul successor to the ace attorney games.
Two flaws that stop me from giving it more stars. first the shameless Papa Jones product placement. It's too heavy handed and makes me want to order Pizza hut after each episode out of contrariness!
Second is the padding. The middle of this show is just filler and could have been cut out easily for a tight 12 episode drama.
Overall it's a relaxing time with light hearted characters with a touch of mystery and likeable leads.

This was great! I love a good legal drama but of course this was focused mainly on solving one great mystery. It was compelling, suspenseful, and amusing as hell (I laughed ... a lot). It also happened to be romantic.
So I guess it had everything it needed!
The bad guy was very bad, but I could sometimes sympathise with him. Finding out the truth of what happened to make him the way he was took much of the series.
Anyway, enough rambling. If you're a fan of K-dramas and you haven't seen this yet, I recommend it highly.

The blend of comedy and murder thriller makes things watchable at least for the first two thirds. Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun are cute together. She is likeable until she gets frustrating later on. He looks quite refined as a prosecutor. Later on after they hook up the romance back and forth becomes irritating and frustrating and the murder itself is more interesting. The serial killer is actually more fascinating than you would think initially and is suitably scary when necessary. Kwon Nara and Choi Jin Tae are the secondary leads who are both quite okay to watch. The series drags towards the latter part. The mysteries about the deaths take a long time to reveal - if things had been explained earlier it would have been better. 16 episodes would have sufficed. Then the irritating parts could have been left out.
Now you will ask what's special about this drama afteral it's the same old
"who is the murderer" kind of suspense. That's true but it was actually one of the reasons why I enjoyed it and other reason is why he do that and the answer will left you in amaze.
The Male Lead: I am not a drooly fan of JCW but I love his work, he is method actor. Character grows in him. Here he plays a prosecutor here, he knows the laws are meant to be broken but he takes them as the only way to find justice.
The Female lead: Nam Ji hyun was good too and her crying scenes felt so real.
The Villian: Finally the person that plays the villain... I won't say his name in case it's a spoiler but... I love him. He plays the villain so perfectly that I hate him but because he played it so perfectly, I loved it? His emotions can be felt and can tear you off. This is the first time I followed negative character with such intensity! He stole the show here. I felt like I feared him but was also curious about him. Just when I felt like I knew everything about this character, it turns out that I was wrong all along. Honestly, I can go on and on about the villian but I can't since it will give spoiler.
The love story between the two main lead is quite meaningful because it spans over years and it grows and evolves. Second lead couples are also cute in their own way.
Overall it is a well developed, heart-warming but also very thrilling story.
