    A Record Of The Day

August 28, 1963: A crowd of people, Black and White, march peacefully in our nation's capital urging an end of racism.

The remarkable thing about this staid and rather dully written documentary is that it was produced by the government. The National Archives & Records Administration was not known for quality film-making, and this, while competent, is not particularly brilliant. However, in its approval of the marchers, their behavior, and what they were marching about, it is very partisan. Partisan on the side of right, but partisan nonetheless.

And so, when all the people who spoke on that day are dead -- it was more than sixty years ago and a few survive -- it's good to know that they were there.
