This six-part series is riveting TV. An interesting-enough premise (transferring a mind into a new body) soon brings a whole host of unforeseen problems. So many parallels with current issues of refugees, surveillance, police state tactics, church-state divide, political donations, and many more. Episode 2 is a little light on as it takes time to fill some backstory, but the pace and plot soon pick up. Do not miss this.
I was lucky enough to see this a few months ago in dubbed German. If you liked the Swedish original version of "Real Humans" chances are very good you will like this too. I hope this show will come to a US streaming service...it will not disappoint those who like dystopian stories, and stories about second chances.

I looked this up on SBS steaming as a way of practising French (of which I have a better than working knowledge).
It is just enough into the future to be the recognizable present. Indeed a future less changed than in the 20 years since I first used a mobile phone. What makes this a stand out is the ramifications of a world with the ability to transfer bodies and minds. It sets out as a cop story 'historie de flic', but is so much more. Personal and political corruption is widespread, and so is religious, a fact seldom mentioned in modern movies, particularly when the religion is christian. Lots of French sex and nudity, I'm getting too old to be shocked or worse, interested, LOL. But be warned.
It is complex, interesting and totally believable, in part because the actors are unknown to us in Australia. If it was Brad Pitt and Angelina or other well known face, this might just be 'science-fiction'. It is so very much more.
During half the series I had no idea what was going on and the other half was perfectly clear to me. I must confess I had a devil of a time keeping up with the main character. I would repeat everything and then remember who he was and really was, which was kind of offputting because it took a while to do that. But, the acting was excellent and the story, for the most part, was outstanding. I wouldn't recommend this to a slow friend but if you have average intelligence you should like it.
An excellent series which will surprise you and make you think (of ethics, religions, love, metaphysics, etc).
Well-written script, high level direction, and top level acting, this is GOLD. Pili Groyne is particularly fascinating in her role. I loved the show and was very moved by the characters' arcs and the world they live in.
Waiting for Season 2!
