Don't know where to start with this.
I love a campy fantasy as much as the next man, but this is just a bit pants.
The acting. Wooden, but not wooden in an over played kind of way, it's just, well.. it's wooden.
Think a porn film, & you're close. Some of the actors & actresses look like any second they're going to "whip out my magic wand", if you get what I mean.
The sound is also, haha, wooden. As if recorded within a shed. There's a bit of an echo, bit of background noise. It's just not ever so clear. Some of the sound is also off, not matching up with the actions.
The backgrounds. Not gonna believe this, but it looks wooden. A mass of CGI for interior shots. Looks okay, but looks very flat.
Me & the missus managed about half a painful hour of this before giving up.
I'm giving it a FOUR as it's a good attempt.
I wanted to like it, I wanted it to be not too serious.
It's not for me...

I knew this was an indie and wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised when I finally watched it. Empire Queen totally delivers! The comedy is adorably charming, with laugh-out-loud moments that are as cute as they are clever. The action is well thought out and enjoyable, balancing excitement with playful twists. Not to mention the stunning locations. I love the feeling of being exported to another world, adding a magical backdrop to this whimsical adventure. Empire Queen is a must-watch for anyone who loves a fun, feel-good film that doesn't take itself too seriously.
I would love to see a sequel!

We were very pleasantly surprised by how fun and adventures this new fantasy film is. Plus, the cinematography, costumes and score are first class, and really lifted the experience for us.
We noticed that its not a studio film either, rather an independent, which makes it even more impressive. Our whole family really enjoyed it. Laughed out loud a few times too. (Fart Dart-Ha)
It's very good for kids. (our son is 10 and daughter 14) It has a Princess Bride flavor to it, and that is rare. We gave it 8 Stars, and would watch it again (especially my son)
Of note, the two female leads, Ciel Post, and Mary Elise Hayden, are terrific playing against each other.
At first we were concern by the longer running time, and worried the kids might get bored. Its not the case here, we were surprised how fast and well paced the movie is. - Hope they do a sequel!

Empire Queen was recommended to us by Prime Video analytics. -Thanks Amazon. Had honestly never heard of it before, but we were very surprised.
At a time when the world is getting so depressing, and turning on the TV NEWS should only be done at your own risk, it was refreshing to find a film that made us all feel good, laugh, and believe that miracles can happen.
I Read that the idea for the movie came from a music video. Have not seen that yet, but will have to look that up. I especially enjoyed the balance of humor, magic, and drama. The actors were all new to me, but that seems to happen more and more these days. All the leads were good and believable. Liked the masked villain, and the lead Actress... plus the music is fantastic
If you want an enjoyable distraction from our troubled times, I am happy to recommend this film. - It's well worth the watch.

Even though most, if not all of the negative remarks in the other reviews are true, I actually enjoyed this movie.
Yes, Special FX are amateurish, story is cliche and all familiar tropes are present, the acting is bad and most actors deliver their lines in a stiff way, but they do it with conviction. It kind of feels like I am a little kid again and my father is reading me a bedtime story, trying to do funny character voices.
The music deserves a special mention; it is well-thought out and composed/orchestrated by Nicolas Repetto and performed with bravoure.

- TriviaThe Empire Queen movie was born from the "Shine On Me" music video by Chris Dane Owens
- GoofsAt the 21 minute mark when the girl is found picking flowers, in EVERY cut back to her the flowers in her hands, and what she's picking changes ... in reverse. It starts with dark blue and red flowers, then pink and light blue as she picks the red, then light blue as she picks the pink with the red beside it. It's like the editor spliced the film back into the main cut BACKWARDS.
