This feels like an HD re-release

I was never a fan of the developer Rebellion and also never played a game in this series. This one is supposed to be a quality leap for the franchise and the basic idea is rather interesting too. I can't say that I have a truly negative opinion of the game but it turned out to be the budget PC shooter (I played on Xbox One) I expected. The large levels aren't all that detailed in terms of design and the game itself comes off as an HD re-release of a 1 decade old 360 game. It's rather short too and clearly finished level are now expanding it quickly though paid DLC. The story/presentation is also barely there but who cares. I can see some of the game's unique appeal, the gore is quite impactful too, but way better stealth games crowd the market in the end. I can thus only recommend the game to pre-existing fans and I now sampled all I need from this series. 6/10

Sniping Co-Op, Where Do I Sign Up

Sniper Elite 4 decided to just put you in the map and say you can do it exactly in the way you want and and the order that you want. You know what that's pretty fun.

Looking at the map finding the objective you want to do first, finding out that there is a horrible alot of enemies that direction, and then circling around the different side of the map. It is fun and especially Co-op just makes everything better.

Sound effect is really good you can hear that disgusting wet sound when you shoot Nazis. Rifles sound powerful and with some heft behind it, and the dialogue is funny when you're listening on the Nazis.

And the main characters voice it is amazing. In the beginning It sounds like a parody of how the mandiest Voice sound, but it will grow on you so much and you will realize that maybe, actually is the mandiest man who have ever lived.

Italian is a interesting place for a shooting campaign because it we don't see it much in World War 2 shooters, it does give it a nice summer like atmosphere to the levels, so just like summer came with your friends but you're shooting Nazis.

Sniper Elite 4 ia A fun co-op gmae to play with a friend and it takes around 6 to 7 hours, so it doesn't out It's welcome. Would recommend.

    Stealth

When I think of stealth, I think of Splinter Cell, Styx, Dishonored, Hitman, Aragami, Mark of the Ninja, Blades of the Shogun and now this one.

The big games that are being released the last decade are something I try to avoid like the plague. Third person open world action games have become such a cookie cutter nightmare, I keep thinking I'm stuck in limbo replaying the same game with reskins and mods.

Of all the sins committed in this industry, one of the worst to me is forced stealth. Ubisoft made the perfect formula when Chaos Theory dropped and by the time Assassin's Creed was out, the stealth genre was murdered. Some good games like the Arkham Series, Shadow of Mordor, Mafia 3, Spider-Man 2018 and Ghost of Tsushima make a decent mix of stealth and action, but real stealth is still overlooked.

I'm glad I played this game. You sneak. You count your ammo. You strategize. You make every shot count. You study the NPCs. You keep inspecting the layout. Incredibly satisfying stuff.

    On stealth alone - 10/10.

One star down for incredibly stupid story and awful voice acting. One star down cause it's just short. And one star down because of glitches. Nothing game breaking, but it can be a pain in the ass having an NPC stuck in a wall or see you through a wall. Game doesn't really tell you how the system of the enemy finding bodies works. Sometimes they just wander off and find the bodies , even though you stashed them. Sometimes you drop them in a river and a reload respawns them at the edge of a map. Sometimes the bodies just disappear when reloading a saved game. But honestly, the worst is the story. Would've been better if there was no story. Killing nazis is incentive enough. And the voiceover is sometimes insulting. That mafia boss... Whoever voiced that character thought that an Italian accent is-a just-a talking-a like-a that-a the entire-a time-a...

So yeah. Shoot some nazis. Hide the bodies. Don't leave a trace. Fun times.

    Red Fox out.

    Right on target.

'Sniper Elite 4 (2017)' is the fourth instalment in Rebellion's 'Sniper Elite' series, in which you play as an Allied sniper tasked with various missions during the Second World War. This entry sees you take on missile manufacturers in Italy, with each level presenting an 'open world' space filled with side objectives and collectables. The story itself is fairly bare-bones and generic, even if it features a few double crosses and a couple of surprises along the way. It's serviceable but nothing more, entirely forgettable once you've finished the game. Thankfully, the gameplay makes up for this. The core loop involves you sneaking your way across a variety of environments, taking out guard patrols or blowing up sea guns as you go. The main objectives vary from simple assassinations to kidnap efforts and sabotage, keeping things feeling fresh throughout. Although they feel like they have a distinct lack of prime sniping positions this time, the eight missions are rather large and well-designed. They have a good balance of close-quarter encounters, difficult-to-sneak-though segments and long-range skirmishes. Everything feels as though it is within your control, with complete stealth being possible throughout. Maintaining that stealth is difficult, though, as you don't start any level with suppressed rounds (even when you find some, supply is short). Of course, you can mask the sound of your shot by timing it to coincide with nearby explosions or a faulty generator. The best bet is usually to take someone out, then move to another position before the enemy knows exactly where you are. This back and forth is interesting as it provides the game with a consistent risk/reward dynamic. As you'd expect, the sniping is great. It's tactile, tight and, in and of itself, rather enjoyable. Some of the other gunplay can feel a little clunky at times, though; this is especially true when it comes to the inconsistent nature of silenced pistol headshots. Also, prone movement feels decidedly restrictive - although, this may be intentional. Ultimately, the game is never so cumbersome as to be frustrating. For the most part, it's highly refined. Graphically, the piece isn't massively impressive, but it gets the job done and renders all of its elements consistently. The 'x-ray' gunshot system is probably what most people associate with the series and I'm happy to report that it looks as good as ever; you'll squirm whenever you see a baddie's testicles explode, I assure you. In the end, the game is well-made and entertaining. Its story may not be all that memorable, but its gameplay sure is fun. 8/10.

    This is a Good Game

Wasn't familiar with the Rebelion devs before purchasing, but I've got to say I have vigorously enjoyed making my way through eight open world levels and the four dlcs which are even tougher and even more fun than the campaign. Would recommend.

At the end of the game, during the Epilogue scene in the Italian town, in the background there are 50-star flags. AK and HI were both admitted into the US in 1959. The correct flag should be the 48-star one.
