'The Day Of The Purple Sun' Part II starts off immediately where the first movie left off. And at the beginning it actually felt like it was going to be easily better. But after about 20 minutes this movie wanders down the old pretentious arthouse nonsense rabbit hole and never quite recovers. Which is a shame because this one is easily better paced. Even with it Being 10 minutes more it feels a lot shorter. And for better or worse there's a lot of explicit nudity. Margarethe Von Stern is a complete babe so it's definitely not minded. But just be prepared for some equal opportunity dong in your face from Carsten Frank.
Like I said before, this one comes off super pretentious! It just feels like two college artist screwing around with a camera trying to act too cool for school by trying shock and go over peoples heads with their assault of purposely obscure imagery and dialogue. None of it is well done. And All of it is eye rolling.
Now this is my view of these films as a whole. Both of these films should have been edited down to about hour at most. Because there's really no reason for this fiasco to be over 2 hours. There is no real story going on here. A lot of these shots seem to just be these two actors messing around trying to look weird and artsy for the sake of being so. It's mostly just a waste of time! With some trimming and real ending this might have been a pretty good arthouse cinema. But as it stands this is Artsy Fartsy Garbage!
