A Very, Very Impactful Movie And A Must See!

Jason's Letter was a very, very powerful movie. It was very moving, touching and impactful as it dealt with the reality of police brutality that is negatively affecting African American males, families and ultimately communities. The movie was real, raw and relevant as it tackled the sometimes willfully ignored issue of the abuse of power that has been demonstrated by some police officers in the African American community. The Director, Terrance Tykeem, demonstrated courage by taking on the challenge of making a film like this, especially considering the sensitivity of the subject matter. By having well known African American parents as part of the cast, who have been negatively affected by this issue in their personal lives, took the film to another level. The movie conveys a level of honesty and authenticity by showing how an innocent child comes up with what he feels is the solution to the problem at hand by writing a letter based on actual statistics. The acting was phenomenal and they did such a great job. This movie is very, very impactful and a must see!

Worthy message drowned out by movie

Let me start by explaining if the Take a Knee movement started by Colin Kaepernick upsets you but the stories of police violence do not then skip the movie.

Otherwise, the topic of the movie has been taken on by many other movies and shows but few offered a possible solution. This movie does but like a Hitchcock movie we don't find out what the solution is until near the end of the movie.

I give the storyline and acting a 5, maybe a 6, because of overacting and bad writing. A number of the statements made in the movie are questionable as well.

Some of the cinematography was great though and usually very well done.

I won't give away any spoilers but I can say if the topic interests you it might be worth watching. If you are already familiar with the issues and want to get to what matters fast forward to the last 25 minutes of the movie. Something I hate to advise by the way.

    Very Good Message

This movie deals with real issues that so many people refuse to see. The movie helps to bring awareness to what is going on in the African American community and what can be done to bring change. Fantastic job!
