First of all I start this review with the director koushik sir thank you sir For giving such a beautiful movie. And DEV Sir o my god what a actor salute to this man I haven't seen such a great movie in bengali in the last 10 year's. I requested audience go and watch this movie again and again thanuu. And again thank you.
It's a timepass.. boring story.. unnecessary stretch in many instances...
rudranil is too good in his methodical acting.. will not dispoint you..other than that very weak story.. meaningless... and. Not worth your time..can't expect a movie like this after along wait... over hyped... Highly disappointed.

"Dhumketu" is a never-seen-before intense drama, bolstered by power-packed performances from Dev, Subhashree, Rudranil, and others. The background score by Indraadip Dasgupta and music by Anupam Roy help the movie progress effectively.
However, the editing feels lazy, with some scenes being repetitive. The screenplay is sluggish in the first half, but it picks up pace post-interval. Dulal Lahiri, Alakananda Roy, and Ardhendu Chatterjee are extraordinary despite their limited screen time.
Dev delivers one of his best performances. Subhashree looks tremendously gorgeous, and her performance feels natural. But the show-stealer is undoubtedly Rudranil Ghosh , a definite National Award contender.
Overall, the climax justifies the storyline. "Dhumketu" may not be a masterpiece or a crowd-pleaser, but it certainly stands out as a milestone in Bengali cinema for its unusual experimentation.

Dhumketu (2025) - A Triumphant Return of Dev & Subhashree
After nearly nine years in production limbo, Dhumketu finally arrives, bringing one of Bengali cinema's most beloved pairs - Dev and Subhashree Ganguly - back together. Directed and written by Kaushik Ganguly, the film blends romance, struggle, and self-discovery into a heartfelt narrative.
The story follows Bhanu, a tea estate manager in North Sikkim who loses his job and, in a desperate bid for survival, disguises himself as an elderly man. Through this journey, the film explores themes of love's endurance, sacrifice, identity, and the human spirit's resilience amid political unrest and personal loss.
Dev delivers one of his most dedicated performances, gaining 30 kg to portray the frail 80-year-old Bhanu before shedding the weight for the younger version. His transformation is not just physical - he embodies both vulnerability and determination with conviction. Subhashree returns with grace, rekindling the charming on-screen chemistry that has long endeared the duo to audiences. Their interactions feel both nostalgic and refreshingly real, anchoring the film's emotional core.
Visually, Dhumketu captures the essence of its settings - from serene Himalayan backdrops to the bustling streets of Kolkata - with a natural, immersive aesthetic. Anupam Roy's soulful soundtrack enriches the narrative, adding emotional depth to pivotal moments.
The film's release was nothing short of a cultural event. Fans celebrated in the streets with garlands, drums, and cake, marking the occasion like a festival. Even industry voices, including Srijit Mukherji, praised the film's long-awaited arrival and emotional resonance.
Ultimately, Dhumketu is more than a movie - it's a testament to perseverance, artistry, and the enduring bond between its lead actors and their fans. For anyone seeking a moving story brought to life with heart and craft, Dhumketu stands as a must-watch triumph in contemporary Bengali cinema.
