Excellent thriller

I must say it was much better than I excepted, as it was a totally unknown or marketed film so far. Josh Lucas was a very convincing villain. Definite must see. Besides "Vice" I would say this is the best film I have seen in a long time.

This is based on a true story which makes it even scarier. I am looking forward to the upcoming festival screening.

Gripping movie, wonderful faces

I took a chance on this one and what a reward. The story fascinated me. But also, the actors' faces were shot so that lighting enhanced their features and wrinkles-and eyes. Except for Marie, whose face was white and smooth. What a contrast. These actors, these faces, the true story all combine for an unforgettable movie.

Interesting film based on a true story

Is it possible to hypnotise someone to rob a bank? And can the hypnotist be judged for the crime? THE GUARDIAN ANGEL is based on a unique true story and that makes the film itself unchartable. The fine actors and the historical setting worked for us and we kept on discussing the thrilling plot.

Convincing

No pun intended - you'll get it and no I do not mean myself or my review of the movie (though feel free to be convinced by this or anything else I have written). It is about the actors/characters and their story arc. There are cliches for sure, but if you suspend your disbelief, you may not even care about them or any other (minor) flaw this has.

The cat and mouse game is quite interesting and takes us places we may not expect. Josh and Pilu (hope I spelled that right) are really going head to head. You may not agree with some of the methods used ... but maybe the end result is the answer to it all? Maybe not ... you'll have to wait and see .. especially hard for those who are curious I know ... still the end result can be worth your time ...

The film is based on true events and the real bank robbery took place next door to Pilou Asbæk's home in Copenhagen.

Epilogue shown with photographs of the actual characters: "Bjorn Schouw Nielsen was paroled in 1967. He never admitted to the hypnosis crimes. According to the police, he continued to manipulate people for illegal purposes. In 1949 he had run his own hypnosis clinic and later wrote a book on hypnosis. He committed suicide in 1974. Palle Hardup was released from a mental hospital for the criminally insane in 1967. He then held different jobs, and devoted himself to religious ideas and charity work. He passed away in 2012. Anders Olsen is based in part on Inspector Roland Olsen, who solved the hypnosis murders and had clashed with his colleagues when he investigated Nazi connections in the Copenhagen police force. Olsen was repeatedly honored for his service before he died in 1972."
