"It's been eight years since this journey began between me and you. Thank you for believing in me when no one did. I remember every city I toured. The signs, letters, gifts, tattoos and most Importantly the love," Varun tweeted along with several moments with fans, press tours and promotions.

"When I cried, you cried when I laughed, you laughed but most importantly I know you cared for everything I did and that's the most important thing. Be safe," he added.

Varun, son of director David Dhawan, entered Bollywood as an actor with "Student Of The Year" in 2012. He worked as an assistant director to Karan Johar on the 2010 drama "My Name Is Khan".

Directed by Shashank Khaitan and backed by Karan Johar, "Badrinath Ki Dulhania" is a sequel to Alia and Varun's 2014 film "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania".

Shashank Khaitan is an Indian film writer, director and recently turned producer, who is known for his work in Hindi cinema. He has directed films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which released in 2017.

His film Dhadak is an adaptation of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Currently, he has turned into a producer at Dharma Productions, his first production being Good Newwz.?

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Varun announced: "Back with my all time best friend @Sahilwalavaid. Welcome to the family of #coolieno1".

An excited Sahil also tweeted: "Back with my buddy again! This is going to be so much fun! #CoolieNo1."

Sahil has earlier worked with Varun Dhawan in movies such as "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" and "Badrinath Ki Dulhania".

"Coolie No. 1" is directed by Varun's father David Dhawan, and is aremake of the filmmaker's 1995 superhit of the same name, starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.

The new version is slated to release in May next year.
