Enjoyed it. Obviously lower budget but watch with an open mind and you will enjoy it. I did.
First things first this is garbage, almost ever scene you can here the cry of action and after a pause things slowly happen. The actors are the most unlikely to appear in any movie, the sound is like a tv movie, every element of plot is highlighted for the the most unobservant. The plot is like a dukes of hazard episode that's been dumbed down. HOWEVER it is consistently bad across every element which strangely makes it watchable, it is proudly and unapologetically poor. Every individual element is a 3 or 4 but for some strange reason this makes it watchable and I quite enjoyed it. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts in this case.
Tom wopat (dukes of hazzard !) is sheriff rockwell. Or was. On his last day as sheriff, the local troublemakers start shooting up the town. When a good friend gets shot, rockwell tries to figger out who-dunnit. The music alternates between feel good and suspense, even when they talk about serious things. So much serious music. So many dramatic scenes, even while rockwell is sitting at a red light. More dramatic music. Some good acting, and some not so good acting. Co-stars pat richardson (from tool time). Goes like a hallmark channel movie... some violence, but no swearing. Every scene has a warm, fuzzy feeling, even when nothing is happening. It's okay. The story is quite solid, if kind of silly. Directed by shea sizemore. Has won a bunch of film fest awards.
County Line is well acted- all the major characters are believable in their roles, and the ending will come as a surprise. Violence is not very graphic and is used to promote the storyline and character development- not gratuitous. That seems rare nowadays. As other reviewers say, this can be watched by the whole family- no swearing. It also has something to say about dedication, loyalty and doing the right thing. A little cliche sneaks in, but if you are open to a good storyline and great acting, you'll like this film. Tom Wopat looks "lived in" and not tough guy glamorous, which earns his character credibility.
This movie is very watchable and not at all terrible. But it does have a TV movie vibe and plot. The acting fine, the sound and picture are fine and the dialogue is fine. Nothing innovative here but you care about the characters. The action is not special but it's not boring. So I don't understand the low score but I also dont understand the high scores. I think I saw there are a couple of sequels so I'll check them out if they are no charge. By the way the soundtrack is also decent. Say a Prayer by Geoff Lenox is a nice tune for example. There's really not that much more to say about it but there are worse time wasters than this flick.
