When it was first shown on Christmas Eve 2016, most viewers did not receive this fairy tale well. One of the main reasons was incorrect marketing. The broadcaster presented the movie as a new adaptation of Karel Jaromír Erben's classic fairy tale 'Princess Goldilocks', so the audience was expecting it's gonna be more or less a remake of still very popular older version Zlatovláska (1973). Instead, it is a very loose and wildly subversive adaptation, with only about 25% of the motifs originating in the source material and the rest being entirely original.
